Aussie model Elyse Taylor knows a thing or two about beauty – she’s graced catwalks for designers such as Dolce & Gabbana, Moschino and Victoria’s Secret, has been on the cover of VOGUE magazine and is ambassador of Nude By Nature. We recently caught up with the gorgeous girl and took a peek inside her makeup bag to find out the secret products she uses for glowing skin and those beautiful eyes, and how she became a hit model…
Growing up, did you dream of being a model?
“Not at all, I was pretty carefree and a friend suggested I try modeling rather than work at Baker’s Delight! It seemed a little more exciting and met my dreams to travel the world.”
What’s your best advice for others breaking into modelling?
“I think the most important aspect in the modeling and fashion industry is to remain humble. I didn’t expect to still be doing this now.”
What’s your favourite thing about modelling?
“No two days are ever the same… I get to meet incredibly talented people and I love the creative aspects.”
What has been your career highlight so far?
“Obviously doing Victoria’s Secret is up there, but it was probably getting my first VOGUE cover in Australia… there is something special about your accomplishments in your home country!”
Tell us about working with Nude By Nature…
“I’ve been using Nude by Nature since it launched in Australia in 2008, and it’s been my go-to makeup range since then to achieve a natural, healthy and even-tone complexion. So I was excited when they approached me to become their face, because it’s a brand I genuinely love and use every day.”
What’s your beauty philosophy?
“Just keep it simple and invest in your skin! For me, healthy, clean skin is everything!”
Which 5 beauty products do you always have in your bag?
“Being a new Mum I’m always prepared with key staples in my makeup bag! I’m obsessed with the Nude by Nature Nude Oil – the oil is so light it absorbs straight away. It’s also a saviour for smoothing my hair as I’m constantly fighting breakage. I like natural clean skin so I use Natural Mineral Cover, and Soft Focus Illuminator on my cheek and brow bones. I then curl my lashes and apply just one coat of mascara. Giorgio Armani Mascara is my go to. And tweezers – eyebrows frame the face and should be groomed into their natural shape.”
If you could give any advice to your younger self, what would it be?
“Enjoy the ride, trust your own instinct above any other and be gracious – life is full circle, you get out what you put in.”
