This Spring, it’s all about fresh-looking faces and soft tones to complement your features. Here are my picks this season…

TheCarousel-Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish

Face

Dewy skin looks great for the first few hours, before it starts to mix with the natural oils on your face. Instead, go for a long-wearing base that will last the distance – Elizabeth Arden’s Perfectly Satin Makeup instantly smooths skin, and leaves it looking perfectly ‘done’ and not too heavy. Try Elizabeth Arden Perfectly Satin 24HR Makeup SPF15, $50

I’ve always battled with oily eyelids, and therefore I’ve steered away from eyeshadows for a long time. My latest discovery is Revlon’s 16 Hour Eye Shadows, that come in a host of different colours – from subtle smokey browns, to rich jewel violet tones and even summery brights that remind me of pretty coral (check out Sea Mist). To use, “patting the eyeshadow in will give more intensity to the eyeshadow colour and sweeping will blend and soften the colour,” says Revlon’s Makeup Director Melanie Burnicle. “To get colour intensity along the lash line, press the shadow in with the sponge tip applicator and soften it into the socket line by sweeping it back and forth with a brush to blend the edges away.” Try Revlon ColorStay 16 Hour Eye Shadows, $23.95 each

Brows

2015 has truly been the year of the brow! Frame your face by lightly defining the length and shape with a pencil that’s got just enough pigment to shade in gaps – the last thing you want to do is to completely colour in your brow and make them look comical.  Try Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Longwear Brow Pencil, $60

Lipstick can dry out smackers over time, and lip gloss just doesn’t seem to stay on for more than an hour. The solution? A hybrid product that is pretty much a high-impact liquid colour that stays on for yonks. They come in several bright colours, but my pick is Melted Peony – a medium blue-based shade that’s pretty as a petal. To use, lightly squeeze the tube, and apply the product directly onto lips with the foam applicator. Try Too Faced Melted Metal Lipstick in Melted Peony, $30
