Summer Is Here So What Are The Best Sunscreens: SPF30 or SPF50?

When it comes to minimising sun damage we know sunscreens are a must and with a great choice of applications and factors, keeping protected and finding the best sunscreen couldn’t be any easier. Want to know how Sharon Farrell cares for her fair complexion?

Want to read Sharon’s advice instead? Here’s what she has to say.

Summer is upon us and that means BBQ’s, long days at the beach and of course… sunscreen.

There are a few factors to consider when you’re deciding what sunscreen is right for you – do you need a spray or lotion? Or factor 15 or 50?

First off, what’s the difference between the sunscreen for SPF30 and 50?  Most people should be fine with an SPF30 however if you’re fair and sun sensitive like me, you should go for a SPF50.  SPF30 blocks about 97% of UVB rays, while SPF50 blocks about 98% of UVB rays.

Neutrogena has got you covered no matter what your sunscreens need and I’m going to break it down for you right now…

Let’s start with your face: If you’re looking for something easy and lightweight that you can throw on every day without having to think about it, you need the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face SPF50+ in your life. It’s an incredibly lightweight milky lotion that provides very high sun protection.  And because it dries to a matte finish it sits perfectly under makeup all day.   If you have oily or acne-prone skin, you might want to try the Ultra Sheer Clear Face with an SPF30+ which has been specifically designed to help prevent breakouts.

And for the body, there are a few different options.  All of Neutrogena’s body Sunscreens come in either a spray or lotion formula. I personally like to use a spray at home because it’s so quick and easy, but I’ll bring a lotion with me to the beach.

If you are very active and love playing sports, the Cool Dry Sports range could be a great range for you. It’s a lightweight formula that instantly cools the skin letting sweat evaporate away.  As with all of Neutrogena’s sunscreen it contains Helioplex technology which stabilises the product and that means they remain effective for longer.

If you’re more of a beach bunny go for the Beach Defence range.  The super high SPF will keep you protected while you’re lounging on the sand and it’s water resistant for up to 4 hours if you do decide to go for a dip in the sea.

And finally if you’re looking for something lightweight and non-greasy, try the Ultra Sheer Body Mist, or the Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Lotion.

These water light formulas dry quickly and don’t leave a sticky finish on the skin making them the perfect choice for everyday protection.

So now you know which sunscreen is right for you.
