An independent survey conducted by Australian anti-ageing skincare brand Wrinkles Schminkles just revealed some pretty interesting stats – did you know that 70% of women over 35 have visible signs of ageing on their décolletage, with 59% of 35 – 39 year olds already seeing the signs of ageing in the area?
It’s even more surprising to find out that 84% of these women failed to apply regular sunscreen to their décolletages in their 20s, and only 1.6% did so daily. Shockingly, 31% never applied sunscreen even when sunbaking at the beach.
As the skin over your décolletage is much thinner and has far less oil glands, you need to take extra care with the application of products.
“I like to press serums into the neck and décolletage, and apply lotions and creams in gentle upward and all lotions and creams should be applied in gentle upward strokes. Never tug at the skin or pull downwards,” says facialist Melanie Grant.
