From Canoe to Catwalk… Is There Anything Jessica Fox Can Not Do?

Jessica Fox won medals and hearts with her determination, dedication, and undeniable talent – as she dominated the competition at this year’s Paris Olympics.

As a three-time Olympic gold medallist and ten-time world champion, she’s already cemented her place in sporting history. But, this week, Fox is swapping canoes for catwalks as she makes her runway debut at the highly anticipated L’Oréal Paris Walk Your Worth Runway, set against the iconic Sydney Harbour on October 24th.

Despite her track record of high-pressure performances, Jessica is the first to admit that swapping slalom for stilettos is a whole new challenge. “I’m thrilled to join the L’Oréal Paris family. And, the first ever Walk Your Worth runway event in Australia,” she shares. “Walking a runway, especially in heels, is definitely outside my comfort zone. But, the iconic Sydney Opera House backdrop makes it an unforgettable opportunity.” From navigating the white-water rapids to the catwalk, Fox embodies the event’s message of empowerment and pushing boundaries.

Fox will lead a group of inspiring women, including The Wheel of Time star Madeleine Madden and entrepreneur and model Riley Hemson, in an Australian runway-first. Inspired by L’Oreal Paris’ famous Le Défilé from Paris Fashion Week, the Walk Your Worth Runway will be a celebration of sisterhood, women’s empowerment, and beauty with purpose.

Joining Fox, Madden, and Hemson on the runway are other trailblazing Australian women. Including journalist and author Jessica Rowe, Paralympian Ellie Cole, and First Nations model Samantha Harris. Each woman will contribute her own unique story to this collective celebration of empowerment.

For Madeleine Madden, the event holds a special resonance. “As a teenager, seeing Samantha Harris on the cover of Vogue filled me with pride. Witnessing another First Nations woman shatter glass ceilings in an industry historically lacking diversity was truly inspiring. I hope to carry that forward as a L’Oréal Paris partner. And, inspire First Nations girls and women to see themselves represented in spaces they may not have before.”

Riley Hemson shares a similar passion for celebrating diverse beauty and body positivity. “This isn’t just about a runway walk. It’s about standing united with other women, each representing our unique journeys and worth,” Hemson says. “My hope is that women and young girls will see me and find the confidence within themselves.”

L’Oreal Paris is renowned for its empowering “Because You’re Worth It” tagline. And, the Walk Your Worth Runway is the embodiment of this message. For Fox, there’s also a personal connection to the brand. “Being born in France, I remember growing up seeing the ads in French and English, and that French connection makes it such a lovely fit.”
