Australia’s answer to Posh and Becks – fashion blogger Nadia (Chronicals of Nadia) and her husband and renowned AFL Star Jimmy Bartel – join forces for iconic Australian fashion brand Witchery in a series of exciting campaigns.
The popular Geelong footballer and Brownlow Medalist is one of the male style influencers featured in Witchery’s partnership with menswear blog Oliver Grande to capture a new transeasonal collection that brings a unique perspective to menswear – what a man wants through the eyes of a woman. Nadia joins Witchery’s Style Collective to put her spin on the latest Spring/Summer 14-15 must-have pieces.
Witchery X Oliver Grande
Leaders in their respective fields of men’s style, fashion, writing and film, Jesse Arifien and Gabrielle Weller of Oliver Grande bring a passion for luxurious beauty and stylish design that uses a women’s insight to tap into what men want. They combine online editorial, art directed fashion and stylishly crafted content to create a daily necessity for the modern man (and their women). In this collaboration with Witchery, Jesse and Gabrielle will be profiling top Australian male identities for WitcheryMan speaking directly to their male audience, and also to the females who play a role in carving their man’s style.
First up the Witchery X Oliver Grande partnership features three top male style influencers – leading hair stylist Richard Kavanagh, AFL footballer Jimmy Bartel and architect Nick Tobias.
July essentials with Jimmy Bartel
The Brownlow Medallist’s AFL credentials require no further introduction. But Jimmy Bartel is also kicking goals off the pitch with his understated brand of masculine style. Tonal shades of grey delivered in the perfect fit combine to give an effortless, modern look.
As a professional sportsman, a strict training regime allows little time for Bartel to spend in outfitting himself. Each of our pieces styled on Jimmy has an urban sport vibe to it, These pieces aredurable and functional on all fronts and provide Jimmy with a masculine aesthetic whilst remaining modern.
Transeasonal lineup with Nick Tobias
As a leading architect and interior designer, Nick Tobias understands the sweet spot between form and function. His discerning eye is invariably drawn to classic investment pieces that deliver stylish longevity.
Nick Tobias, founder and principal of Tobias Partners, is a master in the field of architecture and interior design. A go getter, starting Tobias Partners while he was still at university, this is one aspirational gentleman with thirteen years experience behind him. Attracting a very sophisticated clientele who are interested in a slick, streamlined take on Modernism, he designs and delivers projects across the spectrum from bespoke residential commissions, to high-end hospitality, retail, and commercial projects.
Witchery & Oliver Grande chose him to be one of our WitcheryMen because, well, he’s classic personified and let’s just say that this is one ridiculously talented guy you’d want at your dinner party.
Working with high profile clients day to day, Nick needs to maintain an air of professionalism. He invests in pieces with longevity and quality. Classic pieces such as the black crew neck tee in a superior Pima cotton quality and grey soft knit to the sleek minimalist black leather sneakers. The great thing about the product on Nick is that it has a wearable, gentlemen feel and can easily take Nick from the office to the Sydney waterside weekend.
What to wear with Richard Kavanagh
Punk music and surf culture. It’s the irreverent combination brimming with attitude and energy that inspires Richard Kavanagh, one of Australia’s most celebrated hair stylists, whose work never fails to pack a punch.
This globe-trotting dude who first fell in love with the delicate but perfectly predictable balance of chemistry, biology, anatomy, geometry and the art called hairdressing, also counts as part of his portfolio his role as global creative director for Rodney Wayne, New Zealand’s largest salon group. Respect. Witchery chose him to be one of our Oliver Grand WitcheryMen because he continues to be himself, punchy and professional and because everybody needs a punch of character in life.
Surrounding himself with fashionistas and models is just another day on the job for Richard. Each piece styled on him has an air of individuality and flair from the navy wool jacket to the black brogues with orange accents. The great thing about the product styled is that it allows Richard to feel comfortable whist creating a statement.

Lindy on Style:
Fashion is a reflection of your personality, mood and the life you want to lead. There are no restrictions. No matter what your budget or what is going on with your life, i.e, picking up the kids from school, work, date night or lunch with your friends, you can always have fun with fashion and play around with your look. My schedule can get pretty hectic but I always try to put together an outfit that makes me feel like I can tackle the day. If you look good you feel good. I love mixing things up and try to express my own style while still being comfortable. The key to fashion is to know your body and know who you are but don’t be afraid to explore and break the rules.
Tanja on Elevated Essentials:
I used to be the kind of girl that lusted after glitter covered stilettos but I’m starting to realise the important of investing in elevated essentials, those pieces that will take you from weekday to weekend with ease.
Nadia on Style:
I love that fashion is forever changing and fast paced. So many aspects constantly inspire me, if it’s discovering new designers, viewing designer collections or just enjoying that fashion allows you to express your own individuality.
