It was the photo which made us all go “Wow”, and changed the course of the career of Nicole Warne forever, jettisoning her to international stardom.
With more than 60,000 instagram shares in the first 24 hours of the shot, which was the result of a collaboration between Lancome and Nicole Warne (garypeppergirl.com) in the early stage of her career.
The stunning image of Nicole in a French lavender field went viral and so too did her sphere of influence.
Here, Sydney-sider Nicole talks to our former Style Editor Lizzie Renkert about the processes behind her iconic pictures. This interview took place a few years ago and Lizzie is now the successful owner and co-founder of fashion brand We Are Kindred and Nicole Warne has continued to go from strength to strength as a fashion blogger.
“It’s a misconception that we had an entourage,” Nicole said of the shot of her in a field of daffodils. “We didn’t even have a reflector. We just timed it well, first thing in the morning.”
Nicole’s partner took the photographs. “It helps because he understand me and what I’m comfortable with.”
Lizzie asked how comfortable she is in front of the camera and Nicole said: “I just love creating beautiful images and looking back on them and the moment in time.”
Nicole said she ‘does all of her social media’ and the shots where she is not appearing in have been taken by herself.
She also said that she was at the point where she needed to grow her team despite that fact that she admitted: “I’m just a control freak.”
