Alicia Vikander from The Danish Girl and Ex Machina, and set to star in the latest instalment of The Bourne films, wore our favourite look of the night. Alicia wore a bold leather Louis Vuitton dress with chunky stitching and iron chain embellishments. The wide shoulders and cinched waist offers the perfect balance of masculine and feminine. Alicia’s natural makeup and dark neutral lip are complemented with relaxed loose waves, and the statement silver jewellery suited the dress to a T.
Our home-grown Miss Blanchett looked stunning dressed in Alexander McQueen. The gown is a profusion of texture: embroidered florals on the torso, an asymmetric strip of soft black feathers and a skirt of fur. Cate wore her hair swept up loosely to reveal a set of dazzling Tiffany & Co diamond earrings and she paired it with a matching diamond cuff. Her makeup is kept very natural with a nude lip and black-lined eyes.
British actress Kate Winslet, who scooped up a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actress in Steve Jobs, wore a stunning black number by Antonio Berardi, an angular modern take on the classic black fish tail gown. Her nails and eyes were dark to match the dress, and she wore a statement red lip to complement her floral red clutch. Kate wore her hair in tousled waves, which framed her jewelled statement earrings perfectly and she paired them with layered silver jewelled bangles.
The angelic Rooney Mara, nominated as Best Supporting Actress in Carol, wore a nude Givenchy dress. The revealing shoulder trend is a hot one, and looks stunning with Rooney’s delicate décolletage. The geometric hexagonal pattern adds another texturural element to the gown. Rooney wore a cherry red lip and soft smokey eyes with hair swept back tightly and a shiny black headband.
British star Bel Powley wore a questionable rainbow shimmering gown by Gucci. Unfortunately the mix of colours and metallic finish were not especially complementary and the pleated skirt threw another spanner in the works. Her radiant makeup with just a flick of mascara looked very elegant, and her up do’ revealed a gorgeous set of earrings.
Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson looked effortlessly chic in a red ruffled Dior gown. She wore a red lip to match and rusty smokey eyes, and wore her hair straight, swept behind her shoulders. Dakota chose minimal jewellery, wearing rings only. A perfect simple and stylish look.
