The models tumble
Givenchy was one of the most memorable shows this week, as it celebrated 10 years of Riccardo Tisci’s ruling at the fashion brand and made their Spring Summer 2015 debut in New York instead of Paris. However, it wasn’t the collection so much that made headlines globally – it was the accident that happened on the catwalk that shocked all.
Victoria’s Secret model Candice Swanepoel sure made an entrance as she tripped over her heels and fell down the runway during the show, and audience members leapt up to help her back on her feet. Taking it gracefully, the 26-year-old model posted on Instagram after, “thank you to who ever picked me up off the runway tonight. Left with little scratches but mostly a bruised ego.” She wasn’t alone though… model Pooja Mor also fell down the steps as she entered the runway.
Celeb spotting
The hottest personalities such as Kanye West, Kim Kardashian and Nicki Minaj showed their faces at the big shows, but what seemed to be the highlight was Julia Roberts’ appearance at Givenchy, as she hadn’t been to a fashion show in over 15 years. “This show was beyond my wildest dreams of beauty,” Roberts said about the show. “The last dinner that we (Riccardo Tisci) had together, we really had this incredible experience and I left that dinner, with my kids, and I thought, there is nothing he would ask me that I would say no to, really. He’s the genuine article.”
The after-parties
Alexander Wang has made headlines for a second time this week: the first being his bottle design collaboration with Evian launching in November, and the second with his after-party. Not only did Hooters sponsor the event, the modern street-cool brand also had custom-made jello shots served at the venue, pole dancers including famed artist Nicole Williams work her magic, and Lil Wayne performing at the venue.
