14 Minutes To Marry! George Clooney And Amal Alamuddin’s Civil Ceremony

It’s official ladies, George Clooney is off the market. After four days of lavish celebrations, 53-year-old Hollywood heart-throb and Lebanese-British lawyer Amal Alamuddin took their official vows in a 14 minute civil ceremony in Venice’s 13th century city hall.

In a glamorous cream Stella McCartney trouser suit with a wide-brimmed hat, the new Mrs Clooney channelled Audrey Hepburn in true Hollywood style as George proudly walked hand-in-hand by her side in yet another beautifully tailored suit.

Earlier in the week the couple of the moment dazzled crowds as they took to the Grand Canal of Venice in a beautiful vintage water taxi followed by a flotilla of boats, on their first day as a married couple.

Showing off their wedding rings, the newly-weds cut a striking picture on the Ventian waters and looked surprisingly refreshed and relaxed despite having partied until dawn at their star-studded celebrations the night before. Amal wore a stunning long-sleeved white Giambattista Valli dress embellished with bright pink and red flowers, and of course Clooney was as sauve as expected in an Oceans 11-reminiscnet grey suit. Post-wedding fashion wow-factor continued as the new Mrs Clooney channeled Audrey Hepburn in

The Aman Canal Grande Hotel transformed into Hollywood’ elite as around 90 guests attended the much-anticipated reception. U2 singer Bono, Matt Damon and wife Luciana, John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, Bill Murray, US Vogue editor Anna Wintour, model Cindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber and many more were there to celebrate.

Although the guests were treated to the type of lavish reception you would expect of Hollywood’s elite, George didn’t appear to trust his wedding guests. The couple went to fairly extreme lengths to protect the privacy of their wedding shots (promised to Vogue as an exclusive in return for a donation to charity) by giving each of them a prepaid mobile phone and camera to capture any wedding moments.

Tightened security wasn’t limited to guests of course, with staff also being reportedly issued with microchips which allowed access to and from the hotel, while the caterers and other involved parties were required to sign strict confidentiality agreements. As crowds whistled and jeered in celebration with the couple, they begged the pair to show off their wedding rings.

In a moment of typical Clooney-esque jest, the US actor held up his right hand in surprise! After holding the title for the world’s number one bachelor for so many years, it might take him a little while to get used to the idea of having a ring on his left hand! Despite having already exchanged vows, the couple are still required to make their marriage official under Italian law. Rumours around the destination of their honeymoon point towards Morocco’s former imperial city of Marrakech.
