The case for the tumbling frill and fluted hem has been compounded by the final instalment of Fashion Week. The fashion order of the day; the frill is here to stay.

Be it profusely theatric, romantically whimsical or slightly avant-garde; the fashion prescription is frilled-up, fluted and flouncy.

Add these ruffled variations to your wardrobe, with both a luxe and a less option for everyone.

The Top

Swing to it; a full, frilled swing top is the perfect Spring piece (also great for hiding canapé crammed bellies).

Luxe: Maticevski Lyrical Layered Top, $1500

Less: By Johnny Waffle Swing Top, $180

The Skirt

Ruffle a few feathers in this frilled adaptation of the pencil skirt, a voluminously flappy hem adds instant va-va-voom.

Luxe: Christopher Esber Ruffle Leaf Release Skirt, $690

Less: Finders Keepers Begin Again Skirt, $169.95

The Pant

Take a step in the frilled direction; opt for a fluted flare with a more distinctly ruffled hemline.

Luxe: Ellery Sinuous Pant, $1250

Less: Asos Farleigh Mom Jean With Flared Frill Hem, $87

The Shirt

Button up and ruffle out; add a frill for the perfect shirt shake up. Best alongside buttons, or exaggerated at the shoulders, a tricked-up shirt will do just the (fashion) trick.

Luxe: Gucci Sequin-Embellished Silk Shirt, $3115

Less: Next Ruffle Blouse, $52

The Dress

Tiered and tumbling; fall for the frill by way of dress. Choose crisply modern whites, softly draped broderie anglaise or tiers of billowing ruffle for maximum impact.

Luxe: Self-Portrait Tiered Dress, $467

Less: C/meo Collective Two Can Win Dress, $239.95
