An iconic name in Australian fashion, Dion Lee shot to fame both domestically and internationally with the launch of his eponymous label in 2008. His clever tailoring, selection of fabrics and his signature use of deconstructionism has seen his designs dominate catwalks around the globe and land retailing deals with the likes of NET-A-PORTER and Shopbop, as well as creating DION LEE II – a diffusion line catering to the more ‘every day’ wearer.
Excited about the collaboration, Lee said;
“As our international business continues to grow, we were excited about the opportunity to create a collection that will give more women across Australia access to the Dion Lee brand.”
The limited edition Dion Lee for Target range will launch in 35 selected stores nationally and online as part of the retailer’s ‘Designers for Target’ program.
The exclusive, one-off capsule collection is said to ‘target’ the contemporary woman’s lifestyle – one which blends element of tailoring, lounge and activewear. This joint venture will be Lee’s first foray into ‘performance wear’ with the designer saying, “I was excited to approach a category I hadn’t worked in before.”
Of the collection, Lee says;
“The collection features signature tailored detailing, laser cut and technical fabrications, and a first- ever performance capsule. It has been fantastic to work with Target to create my first performance wear pieces, focused on creating modern active wear, balancing function and aesthetics. Even though the designs can be technical, I think style and function remain paramount.”
Lee was inspired by the “active Australian lifestyle” to create the 35-piece ‘Dion Lee for Target’ collection which will feature day-to-night clothing, loungewear, performance wear and accessories ranging in price between $25 and $119. The queues will be out the door, and the fingers will be at the ready over the ‘click to buy’ button online come July 2nd when the collection is available.
