Here’s a woman who’s snagged the world’s most notorious bachelor. Hang on, that sentence is all wrong. Here’s a guy who has snagged one of the most beautiful, intelligent goddesses ever to roam the planet. That’s better!
Amal Alamuddin – for those who think she might have gotten lucky and met Clooney in a bar during the London Olympics (much like the now Princess Mary met her husband) – is an accomplished human rights lawyer, and actually said no to Clooney three times before finally agreeing to go out with him! Go her. She looks like a woman who knows exactly what she wants and dresses like one too.
Here we take a look back at some of our favourite outfits worn by Amal, starting with her wedding outfit….
This wedding wardrobe was positively swoon-worthy. And we love how they got married in Venice so they could swan around on boats, inducing even more pangs of envy. Looks like we have a new style icon in the making. She’s even made me want to grow my hair again!
Here are our picks of Amals’s four best outfits
1. Arriving in Venice in a black and white striped, Dolce & Gabbana dress which is classic but bang on trend with the midi length. It says everything she wants to say: that she’s her own woman, that she’s elegant, that she dresses herself. Home run Amal.
2. The wedding dress, naturally. Oscar de la Renta and covered in a floral lace appliqué, this is a dream dress if there ever was one. The off-the-shoulder style is uber flattering and sultry, while the flowing lengths are traditional but still beautifully modern.
3. Stepping out as married for the first time, in a Giambattista Valli mini dress, showing off those glorious long legs, this structured, floral and lace dress is reminiscent of a “going away dress”. Remember those? I think they’re coming back into fashion.
4. This. Is. The. Ultimate. A Stella McCartney pantsuit for the civil ceremony is sophisticated and cool and fresh and modern and just positively perfection. It’s the new version of Bianca Jagger in her YSL smoking suit, no? Anywhere she goes from here is going to be good. I love how they were open about their comings and goings, smiling and waving rather than using cloak and dagger tricks to hide everything. It’s all about giving us a sneak peek so we’re not left wondering. Ah, these two know how to play to the public!
