And that’s a wrap! The final day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week certainly didn’t disappoint with some of Australia’s favourite designers showcasing their latest collections.
Here’s a little about each of our fashion faves…
Johanna Johnson
Adorned and adored internationally – Johanna Johnson brand is represented globally, through such reputable retailers as Neiman Marcus in the USA and Browns of London. 2011 saw Johanna Johnson garner international attention after hand making and delivering a gown to on-screen siren, Christina Hendricks, making news around the world from the New York Times to ‘The Fashion Police’. Johanna’s designs have now been adorned by many international celebrities, with the likes of Madonna, Angelina Jolie, Kendall Jenner, Jennifer Lopez, to name a few. Her Serene Highness The Princess of Monaco calls on Johanna Johnson for exclusive pieces, from gowns to accessories. In 2012 Johanna Johnson was the only designer in Australia afforded the honor of showcasing her red carpet and signature gown collection as a Mercedes Benz Presents designer at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia

Romance Was Born
Romance Was Born encompasses both new and classic modes of fashion resulting in playful elegance. Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales met whilst studying fashion design and launched their Sydney based label in 2005. Otherworldly prints form the basis of each collection. The designers take inspiration from artists, often working with them collaboratively to create a unique language each season. Previous collaborations include working with artists including Del Kathryn Barton and Kate Rhode. Plunkett and Sales share an obsession for detail – from the naivety of craft to the perfection of a couturier, both elements inform their collections. The pair are known for their ambitious and often theatrical runway shows that realise the Romance Was Born vision. Each show production becomes a dreamscape to explore vast themes of fantasy and vibrant imagery.

In September 2011, Betty Tran opened her first boutique on William Street in the heart of Perth, Western Australia and has thrived amongst the city’s fashion retails. The Betty Tran S/S 12-13 collection was officially launched in March 2012 at New York Fashion Week followed by a showcase of the S/S 13-14 La Muse collection at Mercedes Benz Australia Fashion Week as part of the New Generation Show in 2013.
