Guests were transported into a striking city scape, with the dramatic event creatively transforming the spectacular venue, On Seven at David Jones. Entering via an underground tunnel, guests were wowed into an urban jungle complete with a live graffiti artist, a paved runway reminiscent of Melbourne city laneways, vivid LED street-style lighting, and a live band of drummers that opened the start of the show and set the tone for the new season which urges you to march to your own fashion beat.

The Designers:
This season’s collection showcases 35 new season collections from David Jones’ celebrated Australian designer family including: Akira, Alice McCall, Bassike, Bianca Spender, Bec & Bridge, Camilla, Camilla and Marc, Calibre, Carla Zampatti, Christopher Esber, Dion Lee, Easton Pearson, Ellery, Ginger & Smart, Jac + Jack, Jack London, Josh Goot, Lover, Manning Cartell, Megan Park, Michael Lo Sordo, Mimco, Nicola Finetti, Phl!p, Rachel Gilbert, Rebecca Vallance, Romance was Born, Sabatini, Scanlan Theodore, Strateas Carlucci, The Upside, Vanishing Elephant, Willow, Zanerobe and Zimmermann.
Australian tennis star Mark Philippoussis has also launched his collection of understated luxe sportswear – Phl!p
Carla Zampatti closed the show with David Jones paying homage to the her 50 year anniversary in the business.
The Models:
Fashion Ambassador Jessica Gomes as well as Youth Ambassador Montana Cox and Menswear Ambassador Jason Dundas fronted the group of Australia’s most celebrated faces including former David Jones Youth Ambassador Elyse Taylor, Samantha Harris, Ruby Jean, former Australia’s Next Top Model contestant Abbie Weir, Ollie Henderson, and the Stenmark brothers, Zac & Jordan Stenmark.
David Jones has a strong heritage of discovering new talent and this continued this season with David Jones filling its runway with up and coming ‘faces to watch’ including Charlotte Morton, Stephanie Joy Field, Cassie Lapthorne and Roberta Pecoraro.
The Guest List:
A star studded line up included David Jones Ambassador Megan Gale, Teresa Palmer, Gracie Otto, Jesinta Campbell, Mark Philippoussis and Silvana Lovin, Annabella Barber, Danielle Cormack, Anna Bamford, Krew Boylan, Terry Biviano & Anthony Minichiello, Emma Lung, Erika Heynatz. David Jones’ leading portfolio of designers also fronted the red carpet including; Carla Zampatti, Nicky and Simone Zimmermann, Bec & Bridge duo Bridget Yorston and Becky Cooper, Camilla Freeman Topper and Marc Freeman, Lover’s Nic Briand and Susien Chong, Bianca Spender, Rachel Gilbert, the sisters from Manning Cartell and Rebecca Vallance to name just a few.
Styling:
With over 212 looks hitting the runway, this season’s key trends came to life at the hands of renowned stylist Kelvin Harries. Expect statement accessories from David Jones’ leading portfolio of brands; Celine, Alexander Wang, Fendi, Marc Jacobs, Lanvin, Stella McCartney, Sylvia Toledano, Amber Sceats, Michael Kors, Kurt Geiger, Tony Bianco and Guess.
Makeup:
The makeup this season is from MAC Cosmetics. The cult makeup brand were used on models under the direction of Director of Makeup Artistry, James Molloy. Both of the makeup looks were designed for confident, empowered women and portray an easy glamour – for girls who have partied all night, but still look fresh and beautiful. The first look plays on a sophisticated tobacco brown eye, with a fleshy nude lipstick. The second look showcased a dimensional smokey eye, paired with a transparent foundation giving a subtle sheen to the skin.
Hair:
Partnering again with Aveda & led by Terry Robertson-Kirkwood, two custom and very classic David Jones looks were created to complement the savvy, urban chic runway style.
Menu:
The menu brought the city landscape to life with a unique take on urban street style food. Think – walking home through the city after a glamorous night out and biting into a hot dog on brioche with American mustard and ketchup; a gourmet ‘philly steak’ roll with finely sliced sirloin, cheddar and onions with pickled jalepeno; or delicious ‘mac & cheese’ macaroni pasta with garden pea’s and parmesan cream.
Guests could stop by the ‘street bar’ for espresso martinis or sip on flutes of champagne.
Music:
David Jones’ music director Johnny Seymour brought the event to life this season with an eclectic mix of globally recognised sounds, custom mixed for the runway.
