Talk about lighting up a room; talented actress Claire Danes has given new meaning to the saying, heading to the Met Gala in an incredible glow-in-the-dark Zac Posen gown.
The usually fashion-safe Danes donned the wondrous creation, which had an almost Jekyll and Hyde personality. On the red carpet in the light of snapping paparazzi, it seemed fairytale-like; soft, swoon-worthy swathes of powdery blue silk, which fell full from the waist-down with volume.
However, away from the bright lights, the dress took on the tech theme, quite literally, illuminating with UV-light in the dark, even glowing from underneath, as if she were floating on a bed of stars. Like a fashionable glow-stick, it was a truly spectacular feast for the eye, like millions of fireflies had stuck to silk. Twinkling and sparkling in the darkness, it almost looked cartoon-esque, like a Disney princess with a jab of disco.
In what is now the defining moment of this year’s Met Gala, Posen’s vision and Danes’ execution made for the perfect sartorial vista thus far, heeding to the theme of technology meets fashion like no other.
