Rachael Finch Rocks The Runway! Find Out How This New Mum Got Catwalk-Ready

New mum and presenter Rachael Finch took to the catwalk at the Target Runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Sydney recently showcasing the latest looks from from Gabrielle Brown, Desert Designs and Runway to Rack.

Rachael took a few minutes out of her busy schedule to chat with us about her fashion and beauty tips and how she’s juggling all her exciting projects after giving birth to beautiful daughter, Violet.

Congratulations on the birth of little Violet – how does it feel to be hitting the runway again with Target for MBFF?

Thank you. It feels amazing. It’s such an exciting time to not only be back on the runway for Target, but also helping them to launch such a gorgeous collection. I love the thrill of a runway show!

Tell us about your involvement with Target Runway?

I am so happy to be helping Target launch their new Spring Summer collection at two prominent fashion festivals in the country. I’ll be walking the runway at both events. It’s exciting for the public to see what new and fabulous things Target are doing on the fashion front.

What trends can we expect to see in the new exclusive Runway to Rack collection? We’ve heard rumours it was inspired by the Paris catwalks?

Target’s new collection includes the ‘runway to rack’ range which sees trends from international runways in store just weeks later.  This is very exciting for people shopping in Target because it gives them access to the latest global quality trends at affordable prices. There are pieces in there that you would not even think are from Target!

What are you favourite pieces in the collection?

I love the look I open the show with. A tailored white short, crisp white blouse and ash grey blazer over the top. I think it screams sophisticated summer dressing and I’ll certainly have it my wardrobe this season. White is proving to be a very popular trend in spring/summer but there are also some gorgeous vibrant floral prints. I love trying the ‘print on print’ trend with these floral pieces

How are you wearing white-on-white this season?

White on white is super chic and elegant so I think it’s best worn when all other elements are kept simple. A like to pair a white ensemble with a nude or beige shoe and neutral tones in makeup. If I’m feeling a little daring a bold red lip can work well.

Tell us a bit about your health and fitness regime? What are your core tips for staying in shape?

I believe everything in moderation is key. I try to mix up my health and fitness regime so my body doesn’t get used to the one thing. I aim to be physically active every day whether that be walking Violet in her pram or taking a yoga class. I try and incorporate all colours in to my meals so I get a mix of vitamins and minerals. This always keeps the week exciting and I never feel like I’m ‘exercising’.

What are your favourite healthy snacks on the go as a mum?

Good quality mixed nuts, whole pieces of fruit or smoothies I make from home and take with me in my handbag! Violet loves blueberries and fresh peach slices.

Has your routine changed since becoming a Mum/in what ways?

My life is completely centered around Violet now and I love that! I try and make work, health, fitness, family time and leisure activities all fit around what makes her happy but I’m lucky she is a flexible girl so it makes my job easy. She will come with me on shoots or work trips and I get outside to workout while she watches in the pram. She got on her first plane at 6 weeks old so she is used to changing environments.

What are your top 5 beauty tips?

  1. Get a good sleep.
  2. Eat healthy, wholesome food and plenty of water.
  3. Sun, but not too much.
  4. Develop a good skin care regime (cleansing, moisturising).
  5. Find products that work for your skin type.

What’s happening in 2015 for you?

I kick off the year working on the tennis coverage with Channel 7. I absolutely love this role, being able to interview players and getting to know their fitness and health regimes. We get to take a lot of the international stars to iconic destinations around Sydney which is a great experience for them. Working on sport coverage for 7 is a dream!

Any big plans/new projects?

I just signed as the new beauty ambassador for Amcal, Amcal Max and Guardian pharmacies around Australia! I’m very excited to be working with the Colour Theory, Beauty Theory and Skin Theory labels, the products are beautiful to use and all at affordable prices which is refreshing. I’ll be shooting lots of ‘how to’ videos for makeup and beauty.
