Olivia Newton-John is arguably Australia’s most-loved wellness warrior. The singer, actor and animal activist is also renowned for healthy living and promoting wellness wherever she goes.
With this in mind, we chatted with Olivia to find out how she likes to practice self-care and pampering throughout the winter months.Olivia Newton-John Drinks Lots Of Water
I drink a lot of water as it is so important to always remain hydrated. It keeps the body and the skin healthy and glowing. I also favour herbal tea over dehydrating caffeinated drinks, and I get a lot of natural hydration by eating plenty of fresh fruits and veggies.
Practice Self Care
This is so important if you want to look and feel great. A healthy, nutritious diet with lots of different coloured vegetables, rich in antioxidants and vitamins, is a sure-fire way to great skin and health. I eat nourishing organic foods and take natural vitamin supplements and elixirs that my husband ‘Amazon’ John [Easterling] recommends. I always ensure to take time out just to be by myself and sit with my thoughts, to enjoy down time, to sing and well, just relax!
I love creating a slice of Gaia Retreat & Spa in my home every day by using my skincare range Retreatment Botanics by Olivia Newton-John.
I’ll give myself a mini facial inspired by the treatments at Gaia spa. My skin literally glows afterwards, and it leaves me feeling relaxed and grounded.
I cleanse in the morning with Purifying Gel Cleanser and then again at night with Cream Cleanser, to remove excess oil, surface pollution and impurities. Following that, I apply Kakadu Brightening Serum and then Restore Serum, taking some time to massage them in as I repeat self-care affirmations. They are both so hydrating and brightening. I finish my daily rituals with my favourite – Ultra Rich Moisturiser. The range also has Light Hydrating Moisturiser, for more combination skin types.
Once or twice a week, I use Retreatment Botanics Refining Face Polish. It has mild AHAs and really gentle jojoba beads, which work to whisk away dirt and debris and leave my skin smooth and radiant. Then, I relax with Instant Radiance Masque, which has Kaolin Clay and mild fruit acids to really deep cleanse the skin. Its beautiful aroma lets me check in on my senses and truly tap in to relaxation. After removing it, I’m so blissed out, but my skin is also soft, supple and really glowing.
Stay Connected With Friends And Loved Ones
This is more important than ever now, so thank goodness for technology! I rely on it so much to connect with friends from around the world, staying up to date on their lives and families.
Switch Off
Having said all of the above, it is also essential that we switch off. We need to turn away from newsfeeds overflowing with negativity. Take the time to cocoon yourself at home with a beautiful rug, herbal tea and some relaxing music. You may even wish to meditate. Turn off all your devices – this means no phone, no tablet, no laptop and even no TV. Take long walks in nature and breathe in fresh air – deeply.
Keep Moving!
Exercise is essential to keep our blood pumping and our bodies oxygenated, as well as to help lubricate joints and keep muscles and ligaments supple. If the thought of there gym irks you, try exercise streaming platforms or online yoga classes, all of which offer so many varied workouts you will never become bored.
Sleep
Quality sleep is one of the best beauty potions I know. I always try to go to bed at the same time each night and aim to get a quality eight hours of slumber. I keep my room free from devices and clutter, so it’s areal haven of relaxation. I do have an atomiser going at all times with my favourite essential oil blend, Retreatment Botanics CALM. It lulls me into a perfect slumber.
Surround Yourself With Animals
It has been proven time and again over centuries that animals are directly linked to our good health and wellbeing. Being around animals can reduce stress and loneliness boost happiness. As an animal lover, I know this to be true. If you don’t have a pet of your own, why not volunteer at an animal shelter? That’s sure to give you both and inner and outer glow. Just be sure to check regulations around social distancing at this point in time.
