Georgia May Jagger On Her Fashion Style

She’s only 23 but she’s already modelled for some of the biggest clients in the world - think Chanel, Miu Miu, Versace and Rimmel. Recently, Georgia touched down in Sydney to celebrate Thomas Sabo’s 10th anniversary of the brand in Australia.

My fashion icons…

“My mum, my sisters, Grace Jones, and old Hollywood actresses. I was more of a tomboy growing up as a kid, and I’ve always had glamorous women around me.”

My favourite fashion brands…

“I love Vivienne Westwood because she can take something and wear it backwards, upside down, tied to one arm… it’s a different way of thinking about fashion. She’s really interesting and innovative. I love Alexander Wang because he makes lots of really stylish things that are really comfortable and practical, Miu Miu as well. I like it when a brand changes what they do but they have a definite style, where you know it’s them. Sonia Rykiel as well, because she doesn’t follow trends, she just has her style, and it always stays in fashion.”

My fashion style…

“My style is always changing. I like to be really comfy, but I also really love fashion. I like vintage, high-street, designer, mix it all up together. I’m most likely to be wearing like baggy jeans, boots, a leather jacket casually, and a nice fitted dress for night time.

Because I’m always travelling, I have my dresses that I always wear, and then I’ve got a whole bag of Thomas Sabo stuff with me so I can dress up whatever I’m wearing and change it depending what I’m doing that day. Sunglasses, jewellery and having high-heels – these things can add an edge to what you’re wearing.

I like to wear beads and friendship bracelets during the day… I’m one of those people that like to wear the same jewellery for a week straight.”

My favourite Thomas Sabo piece…

“I’m really into the Lovebridge collection because it’s got my name engraved on it, and my dog’s name and I think it’s really cute, but I’m also loving all the intricate jewellery – the ones that go around your fingers and wrist.”

Highlights so far in my career…

“Walking in the closing ceremony at the Summer Olympics in 2012. I hadn’t been modelling for that long compared to Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, I didn’t think I was on that same level yet. I was quite surprised when I got that cool gig.

I also did my third cover of British Vogue, it’s exciting to not just have one, but more.”

When I’m modelling….

“I get nervous sometimes, but it depends on the situation and the people I’m working with. Usually I just put on some music and try and relax into the job, and not worry about everyone looking at you.

I’ve worked with Ellen von Unwerth a lot for Thomas Sabo, and when you see all of the shots, you can tell there’s a lot of input from the both of us. As opposed to other fashion campaigns, it’s more about the accessories and less about you. I think we get it done pretty quickly.”

The best piece of advice from my Mum…

“She always tries to see the positive and good side of life.”
