How To Dress Like A Celebrity Without The Price Tag

Looking red-carpet ready shouldn’t have to set you back hundreds, if not thousands on an incredible gown, so we’ve put together our favourite looks from YourCloset from Australia’s most coveted designers. The best part? All of these dresses are available for hire – yes HIRE – for only a fraction of the retail price.

It’s one of the tricks of the trades that celebrities use to ensure they look their absolute best in the latest on trend outfits and never get seen in the same dress twice – without costing them a fortune.

Your Closet is a designer dress hiring service, which allows women to look their best at every event they attend, by offering the latest looks off the runway for rent. Designers including Alex Perry, Camilla Franks, Nicholas, Camilla & Marc, Christopher Esber and most recently Josh Goot have joined the list of luxury labels for hire.

“We believe every woman deserves a Cinderella moment regardless of her budget and that remarkable luxury experiences don’t have to be enjoyed solely through ownership,” says Briella Brown, CEO of Your Closet. “Your Closet allows women to dress like a celebrity without the investment.”

The online business now delivers Australia wide and has just announced three-hour delivery within Sydney for your last minute dress needs. Complementary back-up size is also standard with each rental to ensure the perfect fit.

What are the most popular trends at the moment for a red carpet look?

The most popular trend currently for the red carpet is modern lace in sorbet hues such as lilac, baby blue, blush pink and soft limes. Designers have put a contemporary spin on these red carpet looks by pairing these feminine colours with bold silhouettes. Alex Perry is one Australia designer who has definitely shown this and it has been hugely successful with the celebrities he has dressed. We are also seeing that mesh detailing is really popular at the moment. Designers have used mesh detailing in dresses to show a tad more skin and also used mesh overlays to create show-stopping red carpet moments. Block colours are used primarily with mesh because the mesh texture can be so dramatic that a rich block colour often goes well. Nicholas has been using a lot of mesh in its upcoming collections with warm oranges, navy’s and whites to create gowns so I predict we will see at lot of this luxurious mesh at the Logies.

What are the top three most sought after designers in Australia right now?

Our most popular designer to date is Alex Perry, his gowns are very feminine and women enjoy wearing incredible dresses to special events. Alex Perry gowns are also likely to only ever be worn once because they are so memorable so because of this renting can be a great solution. Our second highly sought after designer is Camilla, a lot of our clients find them perfect for beach weddings, formals and birthday celebrations. Thirdly, Camilla and Marc have beautifully constructed pieces and women appreciate the quality of the garments.

What about accessories?

We currently stock Peter Lang jewellery, which are perfect to complete any outfit as he specialises in statement jewels and event pieces. Our most popular pieces are the Kassidy Crystal Necklace and the Feather Statement Necklace. Jewel tones such as ruby red and emerald green have been prominent in accessories as of recently and these necklaces are great to take a LBD from day to night and inject some glamour into your outfit. Clients might pair one of these statement necklaces with one of our strapless Nicholas Ball Gowns.

If we wanted a complete outfit from these different designers – how much would we be up for?

Alex Perry dresses range from $130 for a party frock and $310 for a $1600 gown.
Camilla pieces range from $75 for a playsuit to $120 for the long dresses.
Nicholas ranges from $90-$150.
Camilla and Marc ranges from $110-$160.

Is the dress hire trend popular internationally?

Renting dresses is hugely popular overseas especially in America and Europe. A similar company in American now has 400 million members and now has the largest dry cleaners in America because of the large quantities of dresses it is turning over. There is now a global shift towards commoditization of designer labels and away from fast fashion retailers selling designer knock-off for less. We are now renting our homes, technology, cars and furniture so women are quickly coming to terms with renting their outfits. It gives women the flexibility to try new brand, new colours and new shapes without the hefty investment.
