David Jones Spring/Summer 14-15: Explore This Season’s New Trends Hot Off The Runway

David Jones introduced several new labels including Manning Cartel, Rebecca Vallance, Strateas Carlucci, The Upside, Vanishing Elephant and The Rocks Push alongside their staple designers like; Zimmermann, Willow, Scanlan Theodore, Akira, Alice McCall, Bassike, Bec & Bridge, Camilla, Ginger & Smart, Josh Goot, Dion Lee Carla Zampatti, Bianca Spender, Gary Begini, Nicola Finetti, Romance Was Born, Easton Pearson and more. The menswear labels well and truly came to the fashion party with stunning tailoring and pared-down summer basics from designers like Calibre, Jack London, Vanishing Elephant & Zanerobe. Menswear ambassador Jason Dundas and international supermodels Zac & Jordan Stenmark cut a swathe of trim, toned and terrific showcasing the latest swimwear from DJ’s.

David Jones says of their new season’s collection: “Great stories come from great adventures. Beyond what we know is where the magic happens. Discovering along the way is where the beauty lies. Our new season holds this potential. Where will you go and what will you discover wearing these pieces? In the spirit of adventure, explore this season. Lead an extraordinary life.”

The department store giant has been a long-time supporter of local talent and celebrities and A-listers alike travelled far and wide to attend the stunning show in Sydney, also offering up their support. VIPs included Rachel Griffiths, Jessica Marais and Miranda Otto who are all huge supporters of our home-grown fashion talent alongside a raft of Aussi personalities and models like Zac and Jordan Stemark and Megan Gale. And of course, no fashion show would be complete without a full compliment of fashion bloggers like Nicole Warne of garypeppergirl.com and Tash & Elle from They All Hate Us, among others.

The Designers:
New designers to David Jones making their debut on the catwalk – Manning Cartell, Strateas Carlucci, Rebecca Vallance, The Rocks Push and The Upside alongside David Jones’ celebrated designer family including: Akira, Alice McCall, Bassike, Bianca Spender, Bec & Bridge, Camilla, camilla and marc, Calibre, Carla Zampatti, Christopher Esber, Collette, by Collette Dinnigan, Dion Lee, Easton Pearson, Ellery, Gary Bigeni, Ginger & Smart, ISOLA, Jac + Jack, Jack London, JETS, Josh Goot, Lover, Megan Park, Michael Lo Sordo, Mimco, Nicola Finetti, Rachel Gilbert, Romance was Born, Scanlan Theodore, Tigerlily, Trelise Cooper, Vanishing Elephant, Willow, Zanerobe and Zimmermann.

The Models:
Fashion Ambassador Jessica Gomes as well as Youth Ambassador Montana Cox and Menswear Ambassador Jason Dundas fronted the group of Australia’s most celebrated faces including Alexandra Agoston, Louise Van Der Vorst, Ruby Jean Wilson, Nicole Pollard and Jordan and Zac Stenmark.

The Guest List:
A star studded line up of Australia’s impressive talent pool including Rachel Griffiths, Miranda Otto, Gracie Otto, Emma Lung and Jessica Marais. Melbourne’s own Pia Miller will mix with David Jones’ leading portfolio of designers including Camilla Freeman Topper and Marc Freeman, Camilla Franks, Dion Lee, Josh Goot, Akira Isogawa, Melbourne’s Strataes.Carlucci duo, Nicky and Simone Zimmermann and the ladies from Manning Cartell, just to name a few.

Styling:
With over 240 looks hitting the runway, this season’s key trends came to life at the hands of renowned stylist Kelvin Harries. Expect statement accessories from David Jones’ leading portfolio of brands; Mimco, Tony Bianco, Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Michael Kors, Fendi, Nicholas Kirkwood, Stella McCartney and Meandher.

Makeup:
The makeup this season is from Shu Uemura. The cult department store exclusive brand was used on models under the direction of Artistic Director, Asano San.
