Celebrity Airport Style: What To Wear While Travelling

We love looking at what celebrities wear while traveling.

Yes, they no doubt travel first class so have a bit more room to change into something comfy when they’re on the plane, but we can still glean tips n tricks on how to look polished while taking off. Remember when people would dress up to fly? The pendulum has swung the other way and stretchy pants n’ sweaters seem to be taking over airports worldwide. Where’s the glamour in that? All it takes is the addition of a few pieces to really look and feel like you’re going somewhere special.

This is probably the first outfit of Kendall Jenner’s that I really like. She’s wearing wax-covered jeans for a leather-look finish with a plain white t-shirt, then has thrown over a pastel green biker jacket and a cool flat shoe. The bowling bag is big enough for an ipad and basic toiletries and the sunnies keep her looking good while hiding a possible makeup-free face.

Comfort Basics

Jeans

White tee

Black bowler bag

Style Pieces

Silver tipped brogues which are uberstylish but also comfortable.

Pastel biker jacket

Sunglasses

Kate Hudson channels her favourite rock-chick-chic with the fringed bag while keeping things dressed down and comfortable. A blazer adds sharp style and the hat does two jobs: hides a bad hair day (if there even is such a thing for Kate Hudson!) and gives instant chic.

Comfort Basics

Black skinny pants with a hint of stretch

Black t-shirt

Sheepskin lined boots

Style Pieces

White blazer, thrown on after touch-down

Hat

Fringed bag

Sunglasses

Trust Kate Bosworth to completely rewrite the airport style books with this look. I’m not sure if this is very functional for the rest of us, but we can take away a few things. She uses a leather wrap dress to cover up what I’m assuming is a comfy t-shirt (sure, it’s Prada, but we can wear a Bonds one!) and bike pants (don’t laugh, I bet you she’s wearing stretchy pants under this) and pointy flat shoes which she would throw off while flying. A cracked leather bag is her mis-matched piece which she uses to pull the outfit together.

Comfort Basics

Long-sleeved tee

Flat shoes in a new shape

Style Pieces

Leather wrap dress – try a printed jersey one that folds up easily into your carry-on.

Handbag in a new finish like the cracked leather.

Sunglasses

Hurrah for Fergie! She gives hope to mothers everywhere by showing us how to dress while traveling with a little one. Her baby carrier which is perfect to tote your bub through an airport in, leaves you hands free so you can pull a suitcase along behind you. The long red coat covers up a comfortable tee and while she’s brave enough to wear leather leggings, I would switch these to soft, skinny jeans or thick, pant-like leggings – not thin stretch pants. Leather is not the best fabric to travel in. Though it’s perfect to wipe up baby mess from if that’s your biggest concern!

Comfort Basics

Flat boots

Plain, thick leggings (sub for leather leggings)

Baby carrier

Sunglasses

Style Pieces

Long coloured coat

Leather leggings

Looks like leather is a big favourite with celebs, but I would definitely save it for domestic flights, and not wear them for a long-haul trip. All of Heidi’s secrets are in that big, structured bag, she no doubt has a pair of flatties tucked inside. Shock, horror – where are her sunglasses? I thought they were a prerequisite for celebrity air travel! I’m loving the lean blazer which she wears over a shirt, but unless your shirt is crease-free this is something I’d substitute for a long-sleeved tee.

Comfort Basics

Leather leggings

Large, structured bag

Style Pieces

Leather-sleeved blazer

Pointy pumps

Printed shirt – substitute a printed tee in for comfort

Alessandra Ambrosio shows us how to get away with stretch pants while traveling. Team with an animal print flat shoe – these shoe/trainers are everywhere right now and are just a little dressier than a regular sneaker. She ties her pullover around her waist which takes care of the dreaded “tights are not pants” rule, then throws a leather jacket casually on top.  The hat takes the whole look to another level.

Imagine she’d worn the pullover with stretch pants instead? The whole look would have been wrong. So you probably have these pieces, it’s all about the way you put them together.

Comfort Basics

Stretch pants

Flat, slip-on trainers

Pullover

Style Pieces

Leather biker jacket

Hat

Gwyneth has traded her usual blazer for a long cardigan. It’s not as polished a finish, but it works because it’s comfortable and still a simple, classic look. Jeans are rolled at the hem and worn with low-heeled boots, and she carries a structured bag which is probably hiding a multitude of things she doesn’t want us to see. The sunglasses at night are fairly unnecessary but she’s most likely not wearing any makeup and maybe she needs them for the camera flashes!

Comfort Basics

Cardigan

Skinny jeans

Style Pieces

Structured bag

Low-heeled boots

Sunglasses
