#1 Cate Blanchett wore over $1m worth of Tiffany & Co jewellery to the 2016 Golden Globe Awards
Yes, Cate was jewelled-up, to say the least. Adding to her glowing Givenchy fringed gown she wore a $485,000 bracelet made of round and baguette diamonds set in platinum and two Tiffany Soleste rings valued at $300,000 and $273,000 – a grand total of $1,058,00. To top off the bedazzling ensemble she wore a pair of platinum, diamond and pearl earrings from a 1915 Tiffany & Co collection.

#2 Balmain Brings the 90s Back
Creative director Olivier Rousteing has rallied up a pretty cool set of troops for his latest campaign. In an overwhelming world of young selfie-taking celeb models, Balmain have taken it old school with the original club of supermodels. We’re talking Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer. Olivier said, “I felt like I was dreaming as I was watching the photo shoot, because I knew it was going to be something iconic that I would never forget. You realise working with them, it’s another way than working with the models of today.”

#3 Swimwear label Lonely use own staff in new campaign
No Victoria’s Secret or Pamela Anderson Baywatch style here. Sales and marketing assistant Larina and artist Emma are the two stars of Lonely’s campaign, shot at their favourite seaside spots in New Zealand. Co-founder and head designer Helene Morris told Catalogue, “This is a great way to open up and invite customers to share some of their own special spots with us.” Join the club at #lonleyswim.

#4 Louis Vuitton and UNICEF join forces
The French fashion house has partnered with UNICEF to pledge their support to the world’s most vulnerable children. The collaboration entails an exclusively designed Silver Lockit pendant where $300 from each sale is donated to UNICEF. At the UNICEF ball, celebs including Miranda Kerr, Mariah Carey, Nicole Kidman and Selena Gomez shared their support for the #MakeAPromise campaign posing for portraits doing ‘pinky promises’.

#5 David Bowie
This week the world is paying tribute to the late great legend. His personality and talent was felt across every generation all over the world. Amongst the many things he is remembered for, he was the ultimate style icon. Burberry hosted a runway on the same day of Bowie’s passing and the fashion house paid their respects with ‘Bowie’ written on the models’ palms and glitter under their eyes.

#6 Is Hedi Slimane leaving Saint Laurent?
2015 was a big year for change with Alber Elbaz leaving Lanvin, Raf Simons leaving Dior and Alexander Wang leaving Balenciaga, and it looks like 2016 will bring a few more shake-ups. WWD reported that Hedi Slimane has not reached an agreement with Saint Laurent on the renewal of his contract and rumour has it that Anthony Vaccarello, current creative director at Versus Versace, will be slipping into Slimane’s shoes.

#7 Cleo Magazine closing
After a fab 44 years of glossy fashion, beauty and lifestyle pages, the internet is in meltdown about speculation that Cleo is about to close. Founding editor Ita Buttrose told News Corp, “It’s sad; it’s like a death in the family for me, but it hadn’t been the mag the Cleo team created all those years ago for some time now.”
