The designer: Aurelio Costarella
The hair maestro: Jamie Furlan, L’Oréal Professionnel Hair Director
Perfect ‘do for… garden, beach or vineyard setting.
The style: A deep side part with hair pulled back into a twisted bun at the nape of the neck. “The look is very fashion forward without being too complex,” explains Jamie. “It’s very clean, classy and sophisticated. I’ve worked a slight 90s feel into it by creating a soft rise at the roots around the hair line… but it’s the sleekness and shine which gives it a sophisticated finish.”
Key Products L’Oréal Professionnel tecni.art Volume Lift mousse, L’Oréal Professionnel Liss Control cream and L’Oréal Professionnel Infinium Hairspray, www.lorealprofessionnel.com.au
The designer: Collette Dinnigan
The hair maestro Mark Thompson, Redken 5th Avenue NYC Hair Director
Perfect ‘do for… a relaxed country celebration or garden party.
The style: A beautiful feminine look with hair braided low, which was then twisted and folded into a low bun and secured at the nape. The texture of the hair was kept very natural with a strong centre part. “The hair look is very beautiful, clean and expensive, “explains Mark. “It’s a modern take on a Grecian Goddess look with a little 70s inspiration in there too, thanks to the twisting and roping techniques used at the back… What’s key to this look is its’ ethereal quality through the natural, wispy and soft texture.”

The designer: Martin Grant
The hair maestro: Andrea De Deugd , Matrix Hair Director
Perfect ‘do for… the modern bride. Think a luxe cocktail party or waterside nuptials (or on a yacht).
The style: Sleek ponytails with a strong, clean centre part and secured at the nape. The hair on either side of the face sat over the ears to create a sleek line and to frame the face. “The beauty of this look is in its simplicity… I’m calling it the Couture Ponytail,” explains Andrea. “Even though the style is classic what makes it more luxurious is the healthy, beautiful shine and the strong centre part… the hair looks gorgeous and really polished.”
Key Products: Matrix Design Pulse Go Big Mousse $20.95, Matrix Design Pulse Surround Shine, $20.95 and Matrix Design Pulse Smooth Shield Hairspray, $20.95. www.matrixaustralia.com
The designer: Akira Isogawa
The hair maestro: Stavros Tavrou, Shu Uemura Art of Hair Artist
Perfect ‘do for… the fashion forward Bride.
The style: Inspired by Japanese hair designs, Stavros Tavrou’s stunning up-style for Akira mimicked origami folding techniques, to create a very traditional yet modern look. The hair was pulled completely off the face and positioned asymmetrically at the back of the head just below the crown. The lengths were then folded through to create a bun shape and the lengths wrapped and folded at the base. “For the look I drew heavily on Japanese Culture for inspiration. The bun is a creative take on the sumo knot while the texture of the hair is very organic and free, which gives a beautiful softness to the overall look,” explains Stavros.
