With Autumn-Winter 2021 just a few short weeks away, we thought we’d get the heads up on key fashion trends from Rosie McKay, founder of My Virtual Stylist, a full service styling, and branding consultation which works with you to create your unique signature look and message.
“As a personal stylist helping women build intentional, classic wardrobes that transcend seasons, I approach trends from an inspiration perspective – and encourage my clients to `do the same,” explains Rosie.
“I also like to monitor what is happening on the international runways, fashion houses and street style and ask two questions;
1. How can these new season “style ideas” or “trends” inspire me to style what I already own in new ways?
2. Using these “trends” as inspiration, what intentional new season buys will freshen up my look, suit my “Style ID” but not date in a hot minute!
“With that said, here are five Autumn-Winter 2021 Fashion trends that I hope will inspire women to experiment in new ways with pieces they already own and also help them make some considered new season purchases to freshen up their style.”
1. PLAYFUL DRESSING FOR AUTUMN-WINTER 2021 FASHION
“Let’s face it, after a year spent mostly in loungewear, we could all do with a bit of fun, and we can expect it from Autumn-Winter 2021 fashion trends. Playful dressing is all about the juxtaposition of luxe and casual. Think combat boots with your sequinned skirt, bold prints and standout texture and statement silhouettes.
2.VOLUME
“From the “puff sleeve” to the wide-leg trouser and the billowing skirt (Inauguration Day Lady Gaga, anyone?), Autumn-Winter 2021 fashion is about playing with proportions in a big way – day or night,” says Rosie.
3. MAN-STYLE SHIRTING
“Ever since Carrie Bradshaw immortalised the ‘wearing your boyfriend’s’ shirt in that SATC scene, fashion has had a love affair with this boy-meets-girl take on shirting. Autumn-Winter 2021 fashion doesn’t disappoint. You will see it coming through in many colours, prints and a range of fabrics as we mix comfort and business-style to work-from-home and beyond. Style as you see fit.
4. COLOUR POP
If the recent ” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Valentino Haute Couture Show is anything to go by, a bolt of neon green, tangerine or magenta is perfectly at home with velvety chocolate, silvery whites and caramel tones for Autumn-Winter 2021 fashion. Mix in a slither of metallic silver or gold and you will shine for all the right reasons.
5. LAIDBACK TAILORING
“Sophisticated meets sports-luxe, this trend sees traditional ‘workwear’ done in a new way – think more relaxed suiting in easy-to-wear fabrics, athleisure-inspired details and silhouettes – all done with super slick footwear. The ultimate in Autumn-Winter 2021 fashion!”
