As the most fashionable flock to Carriageworks for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, we were backstage to see where the fashion and beauty magic happens.
Against the rustic open-face brick of Sydney’s old railway; the wild, theatrical and kooky played out. The bigger the better for some; with flares out in full force, voluminous tops and big bell sleeves. Print, colour and texture was is abundance, yet for some, it was all about understated cool – black, white and wholly sleek.
Backstage, the big beauty players were armed with tongs and wands; making up the model throng which included international it girl Bella Hadid and local talent Nicole Pollard and Ruby-Jean Wilson. With beauty creatives Renya Xydis, Nigel Stanislaus, Nicole Thompson, Carol Mackie, Richard Kavanagh, Dale Delaporte and more making up faces and hair with editorial flair.
The Carousel takes a rare peek at the work that goes on behind the curtain, well before the models cavort down the catwalk.
