For achieving a flawless finish, having high-quality brushes is essential. The Australian brand ZOEVA has a range of brushes which not only make applying makeup quick and easy, but they also help the product glide on smoothly and evenly, resulting in a more luminous look.

ZOEVA brushes became famous as online makeup tutorials grew. Beauty bloggers on YouTube boosted the brand’s popularity and sales. Now a multi-million dollar company, ZOEVA has 1.9M followers on social media, is available in over 12 markets, and has sold more than 30 million brushes globally.

The Founder Was Influenced By Her Late Mother

Zoe Boikou created the brand to find high-quality, affordable makeup brushes. Influenced by her late mother’s focus on quality, Zoe started selling unbranded brushes from her living room on eBay, which quickly sold out. This success led her to establish ZOEVA in 2008, combining “ZOE” (Greek for ‘life’) and “EVA” (the first woman).

Since those early days, ZOEVA has developed into a global cosmetics empire. The brand’s mission is to help everyone worldwide find their individual beauty through affordable luxury products.

Renowned for their durability, the brushes are made by hand through 30 production steps for top quality. They use advanced vegan bristles which replicate natural hair perfectly.

The brand now includes eye makeup palettes, blush, lipstick, lip glosses, and even one eyeliner which is so popular it sells every 30 seconds.

Having tried the ZOEVA Velvet Love Eyeliner, I can understand why it is the brand’s top seller. It truly glides on thanks to its ultra-creamy, highly pigmented gel-like pencil. Ideal for classic wings, bold lines, or smoky eyes, it stays put all day. Additionally, it is vegan and cruelty-free.

Selecting the right makeup brush collection is essential if you want to perfect your make-up, particularly if you want to make a statement. So here’s the quick guide to essential brushes.

A top-quality flat foundation brush is characterized by its straight, flexible yet firm bristles, which are perfect for applying foundation smoothly across your face. To avoid harsh lines or streaks, it’s crucial to work the product into your skin using the brush. Begin by dotting foundation on your forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin, then blend it evenly using the brush.

Foundation brushes are available in various lengths, and your choice should align with your personal preference. Short handles offer convenience, long-handled brushes provide better control, which is often preferred.

Maintaining the cleanliness of your brushes is vital for skin health. Regularly washing your foundation brushes and reshaping them with your fingers while they dry will ensure they stay in excellent condition and continue delivering optimal results.

After applying foundation, the next step involves using concealer to address any imperfections and illuminate dull areas of the face. For the most precise application, a small flat concealer brush is recommended. This brush resembles a miniature version of a foundation brush, with a paintbrush-like shape but slightly denser bristles.

To use a concealer brush effectively, apply a small amount of product to the targeted area and gently dab it onto the skin, blending seamlessly with your foundation. Continue this process with small amounts of concealer until the desired imperfections—such as acne, dark spots, under-eye circles, or other blemishes—are adequately covered.

To achieve a beautifully natural look with powder blush, it is essential to use the appropriate brush. Utilizing the wrong brush can result in a cakey and unnatural appearance.

An ideal blush brush mirrors the fluffy design of a powder brush but is smaller, perfectly suited for the contours of the cheeks. Some blush brushes feature a slight angle, allowing for more precise application. When applying powder blush, begin at the apples of your cheeks and gently sweep the brush outward toward your temples, concentrating most of the product on the apples. For cream blush, a stippling motion is recommended for the most natural effect. Always start with a small amount of blush and gradually build and blend to achieve the most flawless, natural look.

Contouring is an excellent technique to achieve a naturally sculpted appearance for your face, but the key to success lies in using the right angled brush. Although numerous types of makeup brushes can be employed for contouring, it is advisable to invest in one specifically designed for this purpose rather than repurposing a blush or foundation brush. An angled contour brush, similar in size to a blush brush, features densely packed, angled bristles that ensure a precise contour application. These brushes are versatile and can be used with both powder and cream contour products.

To apply, focus on the hollows of your cheeks. Begin with a stippling motion to work the contour product into the skin, and as it starts to blend, switch to a circular motion, ensuring the product remains in the desired area. This technique can be adapted to contour various parts of your face, such as your temples, the sides of your nose, or your jawline, for a refined and sleek look.

One brush stands out for its precision and artistry: the sharp eyeliner brush. To perfect an ultra-precise lash line or a cat eye shape, a straight or angled liner brush such as the ZOEVA 317 Wing Liner brush is indispensable. While a pencil liner can suffice for a smokey eye, achieving a crisp, defined wing demands the expertise of an angled eyeliner brush. This tool pairs excellently with gel or liquid liners.

To use an eyeliner brush, first dip it into your chosen liner after completing your eyeshadow. You might find it helpful to sketch a rough outline of where your wings will go using a light-coloured eye pencil. Ensure the wing follows your eye’s natural curve rather than jutting straight out.

With meticulous control, apply the liner in a winged shape, then fill in the liner on your eyelid, connecting it seamlessly to the wing. For a more dramatic eye look, consider using the brush to apply liner to your bottom lashes, ensuring you connect this line to the top wing for a cohesive finish. Mastering this brush can be challenging, so don’t be disheartened if your winged look isn’t perfect initially — it simply takes practice to achieve precision.
