Founded by Alejandra Alonso, A Moi is a women’s ready-to-wear brand that is feminine with a creative edge.
This season, “the designs were inspired by The Little Prince – freedom of imagination and childlike innocence,” says Alonso of the spring 2016 collection. It was chic, totally wearable, with just a touch of colour and whim.
As for the hair, I was taken by surprise when I saw what seemed like a classic and casual loose style from the front, but with an intricate twist from the back.
“It’s an ethereal look, everything was quite soft and feminine,” says Dale Delaporte, Creative Director of Prema NYC and hair director for the show. “A lot of Alejandra’s references were Charlotte Gainsbourg and the vibe was like a bit lost in the woods.”
“The texture of the hair is nice and neutral, and there’s just a bit of texturiser used through the mid-lengths to help give it a bit of grip. There’s also a micro-braid coming from each side, and tied together with a piece of clear nylon.”
I’m loving the fact that braids have made a comeback this season.
“I created a futuristic woman for today’s show,” says Miyako Okamoto, lead makeup artist for Shiseido. “The inspiration came from the movie The NeverEnding Story, where the look is clean yet edgy.”
“We chose the eyes as the focus point, and drew a thick white line over the top lashline with a pencil, and followed with white eyeshadow dabbed over the top to enhance the white colour.”
“To enhance the futuristic look, we used shimmer to highlight down the nose and across the cheekbones for a healthy-looking glow.”
