No, it’s not Halloween just yet, but we’re already lusting over the makeup exhibited at The Ivy’s renowned event, Pacha.
Voted as 2014’s Best Club Night of the Year, Pacha wows the crowd every Saturday night in Sydney with a killer DJ lineup, unforgettable atmosphere, and performers that dance above and around the main dancefloor. Earlier this year, they also announced talented duo The Squared Division as new creative directors, where they will design four shows that rotate weekly.
Our favourite by far is a look they’ve dubbed as “Objektophilie”, which is strong, geometric and graphic with black, white and orange colours.
Designed by Pacha’s makeup director Martin Bray, these looks can take anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour and a half to apply to each performer.
Martin’s best makeup trick?
“Our girls wear a lot of false lashes and I find the best way to put them on is to apply Duo glue straight onto the falsies, wait for it to go slightly tacky and then stick them onto the lash line with the performer looking down and out to either the left or right,” says Bray. “This will ensure that the lashes lift and open the eye.”
As for their chiseled faces, Bray uses a combination of creams and shimmer powders, applied with a long and flat kabuki brush to seamlessly blend the colours together. To finish, the makeup artists set the face and body with hairspray, with glitter blown onto the skin.
