My favourite beauty moment of the year? Fashion week of course. Read on for my favourite looks of the week – trust me, it was a tough one to cull!
Pop Of Pink
The refined designs at Daniel Avakian’s show did all the talking, and to balance, the complexion was left quite natural. Sweep a rosy blush over the apples of cheeks to bring your face to life. Try Lancome Blush Subtil in Sorbet de Corail, $74
Lady In Red
You can’t go wrong with a slick of bright red lipstick. For this sophisticated look as seen at Tome, perfect your pout with lip balm, then colour in your lips using a lip brush. As for the rest of your face, keep it understated with light foundation coverage. Try M.A.C. Lipstick in Lady Danger, $36; M.A.C. 316 Lip Brush, $42
Bold And Brushed
The girls at Aje looked really natural and glowy, with just a bit of definition in the brows.
“This look is all about fresh, glowing skin,” says Bobbi Brown Lead Makeup Artist Alphie Sadsad. “It’s all about the dewiness on the apples of cheeks, and looking really natural and slept in.” Try Bobbi Brown Brow Shaper in Clear, $44
Fix Up Look Sharp
This was my favourite beauty looks of the week, and I’m an absolute sucker for anything that involves pitch-black liner. This edgy look was seen on models backstage at By Johnny, using a gel liner and flat brush. Try M.A.C. Fluidline in Blacktrack, $32; M.A.C. 212 Flat Definer Brush, $45
Good As Gold
There were four different makeup looks presented with Romance Was Born’s show, but this one gets my pick as most outstanding. Use a creamy eyeshadow colour throughout the brows as a “base”, and go over it with gold pigment for extra drama. Try Maybelline NY Color Tattoo in Bold Gold, $11.95; Maybelline NY Pure Pigments in Wild Gold, $11.95
Bronzed Goddess
The beautiful models came down the runway with see-through glowing skin and illuminated cheeks at the Watson x Watson show. To copy the look at home, use a shimmery bronzer and concentrate on the parts of the face that are projected, such as cheekbones, brow bones, bridge of nose and cupid’s bow. Try Curtis Collection Illuminating Bronzer in Sun Goddess, $49.95
Bold And Blue
Here’s a nighttime look that’ll turn heads. Get the look from Gary Bigeni’s show with bare lashes, bright blue colour pressed into eye sockets, paired back with a nude lip. Try Maybelline NY Color Tattoo Pure Pigment in Brash Blue, $11.95
So Fresh
The makeup at Toni Maticevski was lovely and light, and concentrated on the perfecting the complexion.
“This show is all about romance and couture,” says Maybelline Makeup Director Nigel Stanislaus. “Each face has just the right amount of coverage, and a slight painterly cheek for an innocent look.” Try Maybelline Dream Wonder Foundation, $21.95
