Porcelaine princess, Cate Blanchett, has taken out pole position as Australia’s number one ‘Timeless Beauty’. Aussie women could be on the verge of ditching their makeup in favour of a more natural look, with a new survey from Pears revealing that beauty isn’t about youth or makeup. Rather, it’s something we admire in women with smile lines, grey hair and a natural complexion.
Home & Away actress and Pears Australia Ambassador, Ada Nicodemou says, “Women have realised that embracing their natural beauty – including grey hair, natural skin and fine lines – shows them at their most beautiful and depicts a life well lived. Inner purity and confidence are agreed by women to be the vital ingredients that make up what we see as timeless beauty. I truly believe that you can feel confident and vibrant no matter what your age, by embracing your natural beauty”.
The poll revealed that a staggering 82% of women believe that a timeless beauty can wear no makeup and still be a timeless beauty – with 71% also agreeing that some visible smile lines contribute to being a naturally beautiful woman. The poll of more than 1,000 Aussie women, aged 25-44 reveals timeless beauty also stems from women having confidence in themselves (74%), smiling easily and readily (62%) knowing the basics of good beauty routines (45%), and having a good sense of humor (23%).

When ranking Australia’s timeless beauties, mothers came in a surprising fourth place – beating famed beauties such as Nicole Kidman, Sarah Murdoch, Naomi Watts and Rachel Griffiths – with many women looking to their mothers for reliable, trusted beauty advice and rituals with 42% of women following regimes and tips passed on by their mums – with younger women even more likely to listen to their mothers (45% of 25-34 year olds).
Forget peer pressure, partners play the most critical role in how beautiful we feel. Women say their biggest inspiration for feeling beautiful comes from their partner (43%) followed by close friends (31%). Remarkably, only 5% of women surveyed look to celebrities as their biggest inspiration for feeling beautiful.
When asked what makes a women feel most beautiful, 79% say feeling good about themselves made all the difference, followed by receiving an unexpected compliment (72%) and feeling healthy (72%). Almost two thirds of those surveyed say feeling valued by their children and partner also contributes to them feeling their most beautiful (66%).
The top five Australians who encompassed timeless beauty were:
1. Cate Blanchett
3. Rebecca Gibney
4. Mothers
Australian women voted their own Mums into fourth position, here’s TheCarousel.com Publisher Robyn Foyster and her mother Dr Jacqueline Kerr.
