When winter rolls around you may notice your hair becoming frizzier or less smooth and silky like our usual summer locks. For some of us, frizzy hair can be our style and something that we might rock, but if this is not your look we have found some simple hair hacks to help tame the mane and achieve luscious, healthier winter locks.
Use A Styling and Heat Protectant
There can be many factors that can stress the hair and cause it to be frizzy, and whilst over-washing and or over-styling can cause frizzy hair the main issue is if the hair lacks moisture. So the first step to de frizz those flyaways is using a heat protectant when styling. I tried and tested MISTIQUES 8 in 1 hair oil. This oil not only smells amazing but is great to use on dry hair before styling or after a shower to keep the hair nourished and increase shine.
Lock in Moisture With Hair Masks
Another fantastic product to lock in moisture is using a hair mask. A hair mask like Kyk’s Keratin Repair and Restore Hair Mask is fabulous because it not only hydrates your hair but it also has keratin to give your hair the extra love in winter. Keratin is a protein that helps form hair and when put into your hair it can do wondrous things such as reduce the look of split ends by temporarily bonding the hair back together and make your hair stronger and less prone to flyaway split ends.
Ditch Harsh Shampoos and Conditioners
These days we might turn over a bottle and see a large list of foreign names, whilst there are many ingredients in hair products that aren’t bad such as glycerin which is a great ingredient to help hydrate the hair. There are many products out there that have far less harsh chemicals. So if you prefer to use more natural ingredients, i tried and tested THE GOOD OIL Argan Hair as Strong as Rope Shampoo whose ingredient list is filled with goodies and nourishing oils such as Organic Argan Oil and Organic Hemp Seed Oil.
Some other honourable hair hacks that could help tame the mane, is to use a microfibre towel when drying your hair. These towels don’t cause as much friction to the hair as the cotton towels do. The less friction meaning the less hair breakage. Friction to the hair could also be caused when you sleep on a pillow, so why not give yourself the princess (or prince) treatment and sleep on a silk pillowcase.
Silk pillowcases also help maintain your hairs natural oils, which is perfect is your hair is less prone to breakage from chemical treatment.
