12 Of The Best New Hair Care Products We Tried This Month

From boosters to blow out creams, scalp scrubs to sprays, if you’re after salon results at home, check out a dozen of the best new hair care products we trialled in October.

Kemon Actyva Anti-Yellow Violet Toning Booster, $42.95

Blondes have more fun… Especially if they have access to a hair care range that can nourish and protect, boost shine, and remove brassy yellow tones. With a vegan-approved formulation and ingredients including moringa oil, extracts of organic grape skin, lemon, apple and organic wheat bran, Bond Creator Complex (BCC), and hyaluronic acid derivatives, Kemon Actyva Anti-Yellow Violet Toning Booster delivers exactly that.

Joico Collagen YouthLock TrioSe7, $74.95

Warmer weather brings with it fresh fruits, frozen treats and frizzy hair! And while we’re fans of the first two, we have a little less love for locks that go haywire when the humidity hits. Fortunately, Joico Collagen YouthLock Blowout Creme is here to help. It controls frizz and static. Provides protection from breakage during brushing and blow dry styling (because let’s face it, beach babe hair isn’t for everyone). And delivers long lasting results with protection against humidity. For best bang for your buck, snap it up as part of the Youth Lock Trio Set. Where you can score $121.50 worth of items for close to half the recommended retail price.

Monday Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner, from $10 each

The TikTok-viral shampoo and conditioner brand known for its cult pink bottle (and impressive price point given that you can usually score a bottle at half price at Coles) has reformulated its already excellent cruelty free, dermatologically tested, PH balanced, SLS and paraben free products.

Designed to tend to three common concerns – the Smooth, Volume, and Moisture collections are all amazing. But our personal pick is the last. Which features: coconut oil to hydrate and add shine; shea butter to nourish and soften, and hyaluronic acid to support scalp health.

Ezz Anti Frizz Hairspray, $49.95

Scandinavian culture gave us easy home decor (thank you IKEA!), the concept of hygge, and a new trend in tresses known as the “Scandi Hairline”.

According to Emma Li, product expert at Ezz “The ‘Scandi Hairline’ captures the subtle play of sun light on the hairline. It’s the art of enhancing your natural beauty, allowing lighter, sun kissed strands to elegantly frame your face in a way that’s effortless and flattering.” An easy way to achieve this is with the Ezz Anti Frizz Hair Spray. Made with certified organic: camellia oleifera seed oil, shea butter, wheat germ oil and rosa canina fruit oil, it leaves hair smooth, reduces frizz, seals split ends, and keeps hair manageable, silky, and tangle-free for longer.

Oribe Hair Alchemy Strengthening Masque, $104 at Rogue Beauty

Inspired to recreate Sofia Richie Grainge’s sleek “Lazy Girl Bun”? Oribe Hair Alchemy Strengthening Masque can help. It’s a buttery soft treatment that delivers intense hydration, to restore elasticity and prevent snaps. A blend of chia seed, bamboo leaf and plant based protein penetrates the hair to build strength. Castor seed oil protects and seals the hair’s outer cuticle. And, cold pressed yacon root nourishes and protects against breakage.

Revlon Eksperience Densi Pro Hair Densifying Spray, $37

Revlon Professional has just unveiled the relaunched Eksperience range, now featuring a stronger focus on sustainability. The salon stocked brand is a pioneer of thalassotherapy – which harnesses ocean-sourced ingredients for effective and eco-friendly formulations. The new range blends two marine elements, providing nourishment and protection to both scalp and hair. Plus, with a packaging makeover using 54% post recycled plastic, the range is more sustainable than ever. Try the Densi Pro Hair Densifying Spray. A densifying, volumising, thickening and heat-protecting spray that leaves hair with oomph, making it look fuller and less fine and fragile.

Ceremonia Acai Style Refresher, $32 at Mecca

Recently launched in Mecca, Ceremonia is a hair care brand rooted in Latinx heritage. One of its most innovative offerings is Acaí Style Refresher. A water based mist that harnesses the antioxidant superpowers of our favorite summer fruit bowl. Infused with Ceremonia’s signature scent, the Acai Style Refresher acts as a fragrance infused hair sculptor. And, breathes life into your hair between wash days to provide a versatile formula that offers a subtle hold and restores flexibility.

Sephora Collection Cleansing Scalp Scrub, $30 at Sephora

The hero ingredient in this purifying product is the salt particles. That act to rid the scalp and hair of polluting particles, excess sebum and dead cells. In addition to scrubbing the scalp, the cleansing scrub is also enriched with apple cider vinegar, known to add shine to hair.

Hairification Pure Grow Intensifying Spray Treatment, $20

When it comes to new hair care products, we were excited to trial this spray. Which makes the kind of claims you can expect to find in a salon-stocked brand. It includes a follicle-targeting formula, clinically proven to increase hair growth in just ten days. And treats stubborn, unimpressive growth right at the root with a complex that kicks lagging follicles to the curb. But, you can actually find it sold at your local supermarket. (For less than the cost of a BBQ chook for dinner).

Bread Hair-Gel Curl Capturing Gloss $48 at Sephora

Bread. Great for breakfast. Even better for your hair. Well, it is, if we’re referring to the non-flaking, non-sticky formula of this gloss. Which works to smoothen the surface of your hair while providing curls and coily hair with definition and glassy shine for days. It can also be used to smoothen and lock in slick buns and ponytails, with a medium to strong hold that holds up in humidity.

Aveda x Iris van Herpen Collaboration, from $84

Aveda’s collaboration with cult Dutch designer Iris van Herpen has seen the creation of an amazing Holiday collection. That featuring three luxurious, limited-edition accessories. These include a hair cuff, hair pin set, and cosmetic pouch; along with beautifully designed gift packaging. The best bit? All have been conceptualised and created with sustainability at heart.

O Skin Inject Dema Roller, $82.50

Technically created as an at-home micro-needling device for the face (designed to improve skin ageing, wrinkles, acne, pigmentation and stretch marks) this derma roller can be used not only on the scalp to promote rejuvenation.
