Upgrade your kitchen

If you’re only looking to upgrade only one feature of your home, make it the kitchen. This is the investment with the biggest return, and you don’t even have to do a complete remodel for it to pay off. You can do a mini-makeover, such as changing the paint or painting a faux-wood finish on your cabinets. Also, stainless steel attracts buyers like crazy. Upgrade your worn-out appliances with some metallic ones, and incorporate the similar metallic look in your lighting fixtures and switches.

Become energy-efficient

This neat upgrade will not only save you money until you decide to sell but also add more value to your home. Install some water-saving devices on faucets and showers, switch from regular to energy-saving light bulbs, put up some solar panel lighting features in your yard and re-seal all your windows and doors.

Add some greenery

All greenery adds value to your home, whether it’s flowers, shrubs or trees. When shopping for some flora for your home, make sure to pick plants that are native to your area and plants that are more resistant to drought. These require less maintenance and less irrigation, thus saving you money while making your home look more beautiful and inviting.

Work on your curb appeal

The curb appeal also greatly affects your home’s value, so make sure to bring out all the positive and hide all the negative features. For instance, accentuate your luxury garage with a nice, clean walkway, or direct the eye of your visitors to your beautiful entrance with some lanterns and flowers. One of the biggest changes you can make is repainting your facade. Rent some high-quality aluminium scaffolding, put on some PPE wear (because safety first!) and get to work. But, no matter how big or small you choose to go, all of these things add value.

Small improvements, big value

You might think that a complete remodel would pay off the most, but sometimes that’s not the case at all. Some small upgrades such as replacing old faucets, updating lighting, repainting doors and windows, can actually bring you the biggest return. So, if you really want to go as small as possible, try some of these and see how it goes. Try one small upgrade a month, and soon you’ll notice a huge difference.

Sometimes, the process of selling a home can be stressful and long, but if you just make some simple and inexpensive upgrades and updates, it will all go much smoother and quicker, and make you a lot of “green”.
