The inbox onslaught of new beauty products never really stops. But this batch had an unusually high open hit rate. From a $410 dark spot system with Yale research behind it to a fragrance built on a flower that only blooms once a year, and a $7 scalp spray doing more than products five times the price, here’s what’s actually worth your attention.

Atelier des Fleurs Cedrus de Nuit EDP, from $216, by Chloe

Most “inspired by a rare flower” fragrance copy is overstated. This one is the real deal: made with the Queen of the Night – which blooms exactly once a year, after dark, for a few hours. Which is either the most romantic thing a plant has ever done or a genuinely inconvenient harvesting schedule. Perfumers Quentin Bisch and Louise Turner built the scent around a new extraction method that catches that fleeting bloom and locks it into amber, dark vanilla and benzoin. The result reads warmer and more resinous than the original Cedrus, less “fresh start,” more “3am and you don’t care.”

Chloe Perfume

Intense Strengthening Treatment, $38.99, by Klorane at Chemist Warehouse

Hair loss has quietly become one of the fastest-growing beauty concerns in the country, and stress is the number one reason people give for it – not age, not genetics. Klorane’s answer is a leave-in scalp spray built with quinine to anchor hair at the root, plus a caffeine and biotin complex. It now also packs organic camu-camu for a vitamin C hit. The brand’s clinical numbers are hard to ignore: three times less breakage-related hair loss, and 97% of testers saw a reduction within a month. Ten sprays, three times a week, thirty seconds of scalp massage. Not glamorous, but neither is watching your part get wider.

Squalane + Probiotic Gel Moisturizer Pump, $85, by Biossance at Sephora

The cult gel moisturiser hasn’t changed. It still uses encapsulated probiotics that stay dormant until you press down. But the packaging finally has! A pump instead of a jar means less product wasted and less bacteria introduced with every dip of a finger, which matters more than it sounds for something designed to calm reactive skin. Fermented bisabolol and vegan allantoin do the actual redness-reducing, while sugarcane squalane keeps it from ever feeling heavy. In independent testing, everyone who used it said their skin felt calmer within a day.

Sweet Escape Vanilla Birthday Cake Epsom Salts, $14.99, by Bathefex at Big W

No serums, no science, no pretending otherwise: this is a bath soak that smells like vanilla sponge and frosting, and sometimes that’s enough. Bathefex’s new Sweet Escapes range is exclusive to Big W and built entirely around the idea that self-care doesn’t need to be earnest. A kilo of epsom salts, zero candles required.

Kalahari Melon Oil Curl Stretch Refresher Spray, $29.99, by SheaMoisture at Priceline

Every curl routine has a gap between wash day and the next wash day, and that gap is where this lives. A hyaluronic serum, activated coconut oil and Kalahari melon oil combine to rehydrate and re-define curls that have gone flat or frizzy without a full reset. This fair trade shea-based formula skips parabens and mineral oil, while mango and rose give it a scent that smells nothing like “hardcore hair product”. The spray refreshes curls and helps you stretch a style for days, so you can revive what you’ve already got instead of starting from scratch – which is exactly what curly hair needs.

Dermal Dose Brightening Serum with 15% Vitamin C, $70, by Mecca Cosmetica at Mecca

Vitamin C serums have a well-known problem: they oxidise, and an oxidised vitamin C serum is doing very little for anyone. Mecca Cosmetica’s fix is splitting the dose – 12% water-soluble vitamin C for immediate brightness, 3% oil-soluble for pigmentation – stabilised well enough to reportedly stay effective from first use to last. The brand’s own trial reported a 52% increase in skin brightness and a 21% improvement in clarity after eight weeks, with liquorice extract and panthenol doing quieter work on tone and barrier support in the background. It’s a genuine evolution of the brand’s original vitamin C serum rather than a rebrand of it – the kind of update most “new and improved” launches only claim to be.

Bright Nights Sleep Mask, $41, by Airday at Sephora

An overnight exfoliating mask sounds like a contradiction – exfoliation is supposed to feel like effort – but this one is built to do its job in a bouncy, lightweight gel that dries into a thin veil rather than a crust. Glycolic, lactic and lactobionic acids lift away dead skin while you sleep, hyaluronic acid and glycerin backfill the hydration, and you wake up to something closer to “well-rested” than “exfoliated.” Cucumber and pear-scented, light enough for regular use, which is the difference between a mask you actually reach for and one that lives in a drawer.

Rice Water Bright Vegan Foaming Cleanser, $15, by The Face Shop at Kmart

K-beauty has used rice water for centuries for its brightening properties, and this cleanser (Korea’s number one face wash,) brings that ingredient into the glass skin era. It pairs rice water with ceramides to cleanse while helping keep the skin barrier intact. It’s already backstage at New York Fashion Week and reportedly part of Ariel Tejada’s kit for Kylie Jenner’s Met Gala prep – not bad company for a $15 cleanser that makes its Aussie debut and lands exclusively at Kmart and Target – backed by a cleansing trio that runs the full double-cleanse ritual: wipes, an oil cleanse, then this foam.

Matte Clay Duo Bundle, $69.90, by American Crew at Oz Hair and Beauty

A texturising clay that doesn’t announce itself: workable medium hold, a genuinely matte finish, and none of the greasy build-up that clay formulas usually leave behind by hour six. It washes out without a fight, which sounds minor until you’ve tried to get a stubborn styling product out of shorter hair. The duo format – two 85g jars – is really just value dressed up as a bundle, but it’s a fair trade for something you’ll actually finish.

Lash Idole Curl Goddess Volumising Mascara, $69, by Lancome

The numbers behind one of Lancome’s latest mascaras are almost aggressive: up to 45% more curl, up to 800% more volume, delivered via a 40-degree twisted brush designed to coat every lash without weighing it down. Whether you actually get all 800% is beside the point. What matters day to day is that the formula resists clumping and flaking – the two things that usually make mascara fall apart by lunchtime.

Blossom Boar Bristle Mini Hairbrush, $69, by Florietta

Skin care and perfume got downsized for travel years ago; the hairbrush never did. Florietta’s fix is a shrunk-down version of its Signature Brush, using the same boar bristles – keratin-based, so they work like a natural magnet, pulling excess oil off the scalp and redistributing it down the shaft instead of leaving roots greasy and ends dry. Thirty seconds mid-commute does what a full styling routine used to. It’s made from FSC-certified wood and can be engraved, which pushes it from “travel accessory” into “thing you’d actually keep.”

Dual Filter 2-In-1 Concealer + Foundation, $67, by Smashbox at Mecca

The pitch is one product covering two jobs: a doe-foot for spot concealing, a pump for full coverage, both drawing from the same buildable, blurring formula. When it comes to stats, the formula uses 98% naturally derived ingredients and packs 71% skin-caring ingredients into the base. It also resists creasing through sweat and humidity, rather than simply looking good in the bathroom mirror. For anyone who’s ever carried a separate concealer and foundation purely out of habit, this is the argument for stopping.

Pore Refining Vitamin C Serum Booster Drops, $32.95, by Weleda

Part of a new modular Weleda range built around six targeted booster drops, this one leans on vitamin C, vitamin E and fermented cranberry extract to work on texture and tone. The point isn’t to replace your serum but to sit inside it – mixed through a moisturiser or worn alone – which is a more honest pitch than most “add-on” products manage. Fragrance-free, vegan and certified natural, for anyone who wants to personalise a routine without adding another full step to it.

5-in-1 Anti-Dandruff & Itch Spray, $7, by Head & Shoulders

At seven dollars, this is doing more than its price tag suggests. It’s Head & Shoulders’ first scalp treatment built on skin care logic rather than shampoo logic – 2.8% niacinamide and menthol in a leave-on spray meant for the days you’re not washing, addressing flakes, itch, freshness, hair strength and barrier support in one go. Dandruff care has stayed fairly static for years; a between-wash format is a genuinely useful shift, not just a reformulation with new packaging.

Illuminating System, $410, by Artistry Labs

This is a serious price tag, and Artistry Labs is leaning into serious science to justify it: a patented extraction technology developed with Yale University, paired with Nutrilite botanicals, aimed squarely at hyperpigmentation and dark spots. The four-week results focus on radiance and glow; by twelve weeks, the brand reports continued improvement in tone evenness and spot size. In its own trials, 94% of users said their skin looked more even-toned after a month – the kind of number that makes the price easier to swallow if dark spots are the thing keeping you up at night.
