The debate is settled – 69% of us like our egg yolk runny, whether they come boiled, fried, poached or scrambled.

In addition to answering this long-standing question on how we like our eggs in the morning, the research by Australian Eggs and Newspoll also showed that yolk preference can reveal more about a person than simply whether they are Team Hard or Team Runny. A person’s style of egg can be linked to certain personality traits and behaviours, giving away some telling facts.

What does your yolk say about you?

Sunny Side Up
Sunny side up people are kind, sensitive and curious. Being morning people they are at their best between 9am and noon. Their approach to eating is laid back and they enjoy most things without worrying about nutrition. Soaking in the culture and exploring cultural cities is their ideal holiday. Secretly, they like to eat straight from the fridge foregoing a plate.

Hard Scrambled Eggs
Hard scrambled fans are more likely to be grumpy and assertive. They tend to be fitness aware, but don’t stop themselves enjoying their food. This group have also been known to eat with a spoon directly from the jar…

Soft Poached Eggs
Soft poached egg-eaters are cheery, kind and intellectual people. Most likely to be adventurous in their approach to food and willing to try new things. They’re also most likely to lick their plate when they’ve finished eating.

Soft Boiled Eggs
Soft boiled egg fans tend to be organised and fun-loving, but not loud nor extroverted. They like their food to be nutritious but aren’t fitness fanatics. They indulge themselves by picking the crispy bits off oven dishes. They also enjoy lying on a beach with a book when on holiday and definitely aren’t night owls.

Hard Boiled Eggs
Hardboiled egg eaters are quiet and intellectual. Very likely to be focussed on nutrition and unlikely to indulge in fast food to fill up before or after eating out in a restaurant.

Whether you like them runny or hard, eggs are unbeatable for breakfast. Here are some of our favourite eggy recipes!
