Healthy Recipe The Kids Will Love. Avocado and Fetta Mash On Bruschetta
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

It’s tasty, simple, fresh and delish. Alice Zaslavsky shares her avo mash recipe and a few deliciously fun facts, straight from her new cook book, Alice’s Food A-Z…

There’s no disputing Alice Zaslavsky, author of Alice’s Food A-Z, is a fan of avocado! “Not even a little average, these guys are my go-to for a quick nutty snack. The coolest thing about avocado is that they’re made almost entirely of fat – really, really good fat. It makes your hair smooth and glossy (even if you’ve been wearing a cap all lunchtime) and your skin glow (not in a glow-in-the-dark way, I promise). It also means they’re really handy for turning anything you add to them into gloopy, creamy goodness. It doesn’t take much to make these into a meal. Just split ‘em, pit ‘em, add lemon juice and olive oil. A very above-av snack!”

Here’s an avocado recipe from Alice’s new book to lick your lips to..

INGREDIENTS

crusty bread
avocado
fetta
lemon juice
olive oil
chillies
coriander

METHOD
1 Toast a couple of slices of crusty bread.
2 Meanwhile, pop avocado, fetta, lemon juice, olive oil, chopped chillies (for heat-seekers) and coriander into a bowl.
3 Squish together with a fork, keeping a bit of texture to the whole thing. Then spread on the toast. Nom!

Fun Fact: Grandpear avocado

The avocado is also known as an “alligator pear” because it has enormous teeth and spends much of its day in the mangroves. Only kidding! It’s really because it looks like a pear with leathery skin. Like a great-grandpa pear.
