One of my aunties had a rainbow-themed birthday party, where she wanted to ‘add some more colour to her life’. Inspired by her philosophy, I have created a shortlist of some beach and resort wear brands that you might not have heard of.  Here are some of my favourite fashion finds:

Hot: super flattering linen tops and dresses

A range of classic items made by someone who is passionate about slow clothing. You can expect quality, natural fabric and items made to be worn for the rest of your life. The Porcelain collection is designed, sampled and pattern made and graded in Australia; then handcrafted in India. The brand is a leader in the sustainable fashion industry and is carefully managed to ensure that ethical practice is taken through all aspects of the business. Where possible, they even look for zero-waste pattern cutting and offcuts are recycled for other uses. https://www.brigidmclaughlin.com/

Hot: bestselling sundresses, the rainbow popsicle halter and rainbow tiered dresses

pītusa, pronounced pee-tu-sah, was created with the purpose of providing high-quality, flattering clothing that’s colourful, comfortable, and evokes happiness. pītusa clothing is made to chill!

Pitusa is a range of clothing inspired by travels around the world and the diversity of cultures. The company uses luxurious fabrics like Pima cotton from Peru and lightweight gauze cottons from India. You’ll find lots of flattering clothing made to chill by the pool sipping cocktails or by the beach.

pītusa, meaning “funny little girl” in Spanish, is Clara’s childhood nickname given to her by her father. Clara grew up in London and is of Spanish and English descent. She now lives with her family in Miami, where pītusa is headquartered.

Some of the clothes have been worn by celebrities and style icons like Alessandra Ambrosio, Jessica Alba, Shay Mitchell, Serena Williams and Shakira, just to name a few. https://www.pitusa.co/

Suboo

Hot: fun chevron range.

Suboo stocks effortless cool clothing with signature fashion-forward swimwear made locally in Sydney. The range is made from custom French and Italian jacquard fabrics and recycled Lycras. Look out for their amazing metallic lurex knit pieces made in Brazil. https://suboo.com.au/

Warriors of the Divine

Hot: angle wings and bohemian jewellery

Warriors of the Divine will help you luxe up your resort wear with kimonos, loose dresses and kaftans. The dreamy items are hand-painted on silk, viscose, cotton and hemp, or linen and rayon. The kimonos and silks are produced by hand in Thailand using ancient batik hand painting methods. The Balinese workers who make the clothing receive reasonable working conditions and a fair wage. https://warriorsdivine.com/

Colourful Accessories

You might like to add accessories with some hand-beaded earrings from Seda Collective or a stunningly beautiful silk scarf from Julie White. Think bold native flowers and rainbow lorikeets.

You might like a personalized hat from Boutique Bonita. The classic boater hats won’t date and everyone needs a fedora. I’m lusting after Mexican braided hat-bands on Etsy– the modern ones can give an unexpected pop of neon.

Place all your goods in a Mimmi Terra woven bag handmade from only 100% recycled PE (Polyethylene) plastic which is hard-wearing, durable and recyclable. Alternatively, you might like to carry a classic French market basket – on-trend versions may be decorated with pom-poms or personalization.

I love working remotely at home, but by the weekend I’m keen to get out and explore the world. Ah, but where will my next holiday be?
