What do you do when your nine-year-old wants a 10-step skin care routine before she’s even hit high school? That’s the gap Australian brand alcheMe was built to close. Its arrival, backed by the cool factor of Rebecca Judd, suggests the timing is right.

The brand was born the way good ideas often are: two mums comparing notes on holiday. Jacqui Dixon and Jess Johnson watched their kids get pulled into skin care trends. TikTok routines were built for adult skin, not developing tween skin. As a result, none of it suited sensitive, breakout-prone, still-developing tween faces. So they built the thing that didn’t exist: a dermatologically tested range made in Australia. It’s stripped back to what matters most: cleansing and moisturising. Formulas are built around ceramides, hyaluronic acid and pro-vitamin B5. Together, these support the skin barrier instead of overloading it.

The clever part is how much personality gets built into a two-step routine that could easily have read as clinical. Instead, the Barrier Balance Cleanser ($27) and Moisturiser ($32) come in fragrance-free but fun coconut, vanilla and cherry. The brand encourages mixing and matching them into bundles. Each bundle feels more like building a flavour combo than following a regimen. Strawberries & Cream pairs strawberry with vanilla. Cherry Bomb goes bold and fruity against something warmer. Meanwhile, the On The Go bundle suits kids and parents who skip scent. Each bundle sits at $48, priced like something a teenager could save for. It feels like a gift, not a clinical purchase parents must gatekeep.

That’s the tension AlcheMe navigates well: simple enough for parents to trust. And fun enough for kids to actually want. Two-step routines don’t go viral on their own. That’s likely why Rebecca Judd’s arrival as co-owner matters strategically, not just personally. Judd’s daughter Billie is entering exactly the age bracket AlcheMe is built for. Her involvement isn’t just a name attached to a press release. She’s a mother who has already lived this exact dilemma. Now she has the platform to reach the audience that needs to see it. This category runs almost entirely on social proof and who’s using what. That mix of maternal credibility and real reach may be AlcheMe’s sharpest asset yet.

The bet underneath it all is simple. The next generation of skin care consumers doesn’t need to be sold complexity. Instead, they just need to be sold permission to keep it simple. AlcheMe is wagering that a two-step routine can compete with ten-step ones. Especially when it’s dressed in scents a twelve-year-old would choose herself. Whether that wins out over the algorithm remains to be seen. But three mothers are behind it, each watching her own daughter navigate this moment. It’s hard to bet against them understanding the assignment.

AlcheMe cleansers, moisturisers and bundles are available now at alcheme.store, with individual products priced from $27.
