Organisational expert Steph Pase shares her simple go-to breakfast recipes for feeding the family on busy mornings.

Mornings with young families are hectic at the best of times. And now that kids are back at school, having a quick, filling, nutritious breakfast is so important for ensuring the whole family gets a great start to the day.

Businesswoman, blogger and mother of two Steph Pase is well known for her health and organisation hacks. She has made it her mission to help women create simple, doable daily habits that help them and their families manage overwhelm and live their best lives.

“If you’re like me, you know that a disorganised morning is where your entire day can come undone,” she says. “Especially when it comes to making sure your family gets their breakfast. This is why I have on-the-go breakfasts that help me to keep the order when things get busy. What I love about these is that they’re perfect for all members of the family – adults and kids.”

Here are her top five favourite recipes for busy mornings – child approved:

1. Protein yoghurt and berries

I love my protein yoghurt and berries in the morning. My girls do too, judging by how often they steal mouthfuls of it! Not only is it super easy to throw together, it’s a great one to put in a container if you’re on the go, and the protein will help keep tummies fuller for longer, getting everyone through to morning tea.

2. Two-ingredient banana pancakes

My girls love making these pancakes just as much as they love eating them. They’re easy to make, and are a naturally delicious source of vitamin B6, fibre, potassium and protein. They can be prepared ahead of time and stored for a quick and easy breakfast. As the name suggests, it’s just two ingredients: two eggs, one banana, whisked, mashed and fried in a lightly greased pan. Add toppings of your choice (or protein powder in the mix for adults).

3. Homemade breakfast muesli bars

Muesli bars are such a great snack idea, and being homemade, you know what is in them. I make a batch up on a Sunday and then they are ready to grab throughout the week. I make a kids’ version of these by simply removing the protein powder and nuts (if they are taking them to school or daycare). Find the recipe here.

4. Smoothies

When it comes to on-the-go meals, the kids love smoothies! Not only is it simple and portable, you can pack them with so much nutrition, and they taste great. And for us adults, it’s so easy to add in extra things such as protein, etc. Check out my favourite combinations here.

5. Boiled eggs

There’s so much you can do with a boiled egg, and keeping these guys ready to go in the fridge is an easy way to provide protein and nutrition on the go. Eat by themselves, or slice on a wholemeal muffin with any pairing you can think of. My favourite way to have them is on sourdough toast with avocado and sea salt.
