It’s a bit of a revolutionary idea, that you can use non-toxic cleaning products which are also zero-waste. I like using natural products, but this company does all of the hard work for you.

Created by Sunshine Coast entrepreneurs Ami Bateman and Sian Murray, Pleasant State created Australia’s first ‘just add water’ cleaning bars that help forward-thinking Australians reduce their use of toxic chemicals and single-use plastics in their homes.

You might like to start with the full house kit. This includes the entire Pleasant State range, featuring:

  • 1 x Homebody multi-purpose bar, bottle and towel
  • 1 x Stay glassy glass and window bar, bottle and towel
  • 1 x Tub scrub bathroom bar, bottle and towel

I like the way the cleaning towels match the colour of the corresponding bottle. It’s handy to be able to work out what is what with the name etched on the glass. Naturally there is minimal packaging.

How to use Pleasant State Cleaning Bottles

The box comes with a card of instructions and you can scan the QR code if you want more clarification. But you just fill your bottle with 500ml of warm water and drop in the cleaning bar. Then let the bar dissolve for around 45 minutes (before adding the trigger lid). Then you are ready to get cleaning.

When you have run out of cleaning liquid, just hop back on the Pleasant State website to order some refills for the individual cleaner or save money with the mixed refill pack. The cleaning solution has a 12-month shelf life.

Pleasant State Features:

  • Zero waste with refillable bottles
  • Drop protected glass and silicone bottles
  • Non-toxic and vegan
  • Money-back guarantee
  • Free postage

I liked the Pleasant State multi-purpose spray the best. It is scented with Australian lemon myrtle essential oils and is a great all-rounder for all the surfaces in your home. The glass and window have a nice mandarin and lemon myrtle scent. While the bathroom formula has scents of Australian peppermint and Spanish rosemary. It is handy for tiled areas and the walls. It can be used on soap scum and limescale for a deep clean.

Pleasant State is an ideal way to get started in the zero-waste living or as a present for your mum or friends.
