What was your lucky career break?

“I hung around long enough, so they couldn’t get rid of me! No, seriously, I worked hard and continued doing work experience even after I had finished the requirements from my University course.”

What is it like working in a male-dominated industry?

“Funnily enough we aren’t as male dominated as you’d think. My office has more females than males. There are also female engineers, mechanics, team owners and even some female drivers coming up through the ranks. We have a great team and when you travel as much as we do, the team become your second family.”

“I think you start feel a bit anxious going into any industry for the first time, but once you have been to a couple of events you get the hang of how it all works and it becomes second nature.”

What advice do you have for women trying to break into male-dominated industries?

“You need to be driven, passionate and ready to work hard going into any industry. Building relationships is also very important, and by working hard, you earn respect and in turn respect everyone else’s role too.”
