Here are five of the best babymoons for parents-to-be in our own backyard.

Northern Territory

Nicole Kidman believes the ‘fertility waters’ in the Northern Territory outback may have contributed to the pregnancies of herself and six other women who worked on the film Australia. While these powers may be redundant during a babymoon, there’s a beauty and spirituality to Kakadu National Park that will inspire all soon to be parents. The 3-day Kakadu and Katherine Gorge Short Break includes a swim at the base of Edith Falls.

Tasmania

Most new parents will admit taking the time to meander around a museum isn’t on the ‘easy’ list in the first few years of parenthood. The 6-day Tassie Getaway Guided Holidayincludes a visit to Hobart’s Museum of Old and New Art to top up on some culture ahead of inevitable Peppa Pig reruns. It may not be the same as sipping a crisp white wine but guests who aren’t drinking can also soak in the beauty of Wineglass Bay.

If the criteria for the last trip as a family of two includes plenty of sunshine and a palm tree to read under, a trip to the babymoon capital of Australia, Port Douglas, is in order. If you’re feeling energetic there is the chance to visit Mossman Gorge, the Great Barrier Reef, Kuranda and Cairns on the 6-day Port Douglas & Reef RetreatShort Break as well as plenty of time for claiming a sunbed by the pool at the trendy QT Port Douglas.

QLD

South Australia

If you’re eating for two why not indulge in honey ice cream at Clifford’s Honey Farm, fresh produce at the Maggie Beer Farm Shop, morning tea from local bakeries and two-course lunches in scenic locations. On the 5-day Adelaide and Kangaroo Island Short Break, guests taste their way through local gourmet goodies as well as seeing plenty of the wildlife and scenery the region is renowned for.

Victoria

If your ‘babymoon’ is code for ‘shopping spree’ and the plan is to stock up on baby socks and sleep suits with a little time for sightseeing consider the 4-day Melbourne & Great Ocean Road Short Break. There’s time to do the rounds of Melbourne’s baby stores as well as ooh and ah over the Little Penguins on Phillip Island and see the highlights along the Great Ocean Road without hearing ‘are we there yet?’.
