For a quick and close break from the crowds in Australia’s busiest city, Sydney locals only need to drive for an hour and a half for a quiet retreat in the Blue Mountains. The walking tracks in Wentworth Falls will take you past cascading waterfalls and reveal panoramic views of the Three Sisters. If you’d rather skip the walk you can take in the view from the Echo Point Lookout. Pack a picnic and take it to the Botanic Gardens where there are a variety of native finches and the last of the summer flowers in bloom.
