When someone mentions Whistler, your brain might instantly conjure up images of adrenaline junkies hurtling down a mountain strapped to a snowboard or a mountain bike. And while, yes, the opening of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park is globally renowned, my idea of a restorative summer getaway involves significantly less body armour and a lot more deep, unhurried breathing.

If you are looking for an escape that prioritises longevity over lactic acid, Whistler’s summer season is quietly hiding some of the most spectacular holistic wellness experiences on earth. Here is how to do the Canadian alpine, the slow way.

Sometimes the best thing for your nervous system is to just sit back and be thoroughly awed. The legendary PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola, spanning a massive 4.4 kilometres between Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains, is the ultimate shortcut to serenity. Stepping off at the top doesn’t mean you have to conquer a peak; it means you instantly have access to seasonal snow walls, ancient glaciers, and slopes carpeted in wildflowers. It’s an effortless dose of perspective.

Mindful Movement Above the Clouds

Forget the stuffy hotel gym. Whistler is leaning into the wellness space this summer with the Celsius Mountain Top Movement Series. There is something deeply grounding about rolling out a mat and stretching out the travel kinks at altitude, breathing in that crisp, pine-scented air. Once you are properly limbered up, you can tackle a section of the 50 kilometres of hiking trails at your own pace. Think slow, mindful walking rather than a gruelling race to the summit.

Nature’s Best Therapy There is a specific kind of quiet joy in observing wildlife in its natural habitat. Stepping away from the crowds for one of Whistler’s Bear Viewing Tours is the kind of human-centric, awe-inspiring storytelling you’ll be sharing at dinner parties for years. It’s a reminder to slow down, be present, and respect the incredible ecology of the Coast Mountains.

The Practical Magic Full summer access including the Whistler Village Gondola and the Peak Express Chairlift taking you to the Cloudraker Skybridge, kicks off on June 13.

A quick tip for us Aussies planning ahead: If you are looking at swapping a future winter for a Canadian summer, keep an eye on the Epic Australia Pass. It currently offers complimentary gondola sightseeing access, plus 20% off accommodations and dining, which leaves a little extra in the budget for a post-mountain massage.

Will Travel For Food (and Altitude)

If your idea of a restorative mountain getaway involves significantly less hiking and significantly more eating, Whistler’s summer culinary scene is where you’ll want to drop your bags. Because let’s be honest: crisp mountain air does absolute wonders for the appetite, and sometimes the best way to experience a culture is on a plate.

The Epicurean Math: Here is where that Epic Australia Pass really pays dividends. Along with the lift access, it unlocks a solid 20% off dining. We call that the perfect mathematical justification for ordering the second bottle of wine or the extra dessert.

The Mountain Top Summer Feast: Forget dinner with a view; this is dinner in the view. Dining at altitude provides a fantastic visual and sensory story, perfect for those evenings when you want to feel suitably adventurous without actually breaking a sweat.

Whistler Farmers Market: For a slower, more grounded afternoon, wander through the market at the base of the mountains. It’s a brilliant, unhurried way to tap into the local community, sample artisan slow-food concepts, and perhaps pick up some unique local provisions.
