Her Madgesty broke down in tears during her penultimate New Zealand show of her Rebel Heart tour.

“’There is no love stronger than a mother for her son,” she sobbed to the crowd.

“If I talk about him too much I might cry.”

She then dedicated her song La Vie en Rose to Rocco, 15, and said: “I hope he hears this somewhere and knows how much I miss him. It’s a love song for a man, but I know he’ll need one, one day.”

Reports later confirmed the singer’s worst nightmare.

“The fact is Madonna has now accepted Rocco isn’t coming home and that his home is now with his dad. Rocco wants to be with his dad but she won’t give up being his mother.

‘She won’t stop fighting to try to make sure Rocco is kept safe and has what he needs. She can’t understand why it has come to this. Her world has been shattered.”

Madonna was so rattled by the realisation, that she kept fans waiting for 90 minutes before her final New Zealand show at Vector Arena in Auckland.

Madonna and Guy have been fighting out their custody battle in court, after Rocco refused to return to New York to live with his mother late last year, choosing instead to live a “more stable” life in London with his father.

A judge ordered both Rocco and Guy to return to New York for a hearing, but Rocco ignored the order and, according to reports, a London judge separately ruled that he can remain in England with his father.

Madonna and Guy had reportedly been working on a draft agreement over Rocco’s care, but were struggling to agree on several of the singer’s demands, including regular time for her and her other children to speak with the teen, and a requirement that Rocco be tailed by security guards while out in public.

The next stop on Madonna’s world tour is Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on March 12, 2016.
