This Summer, it’s all about golden glows galore – think sun-kissed skin, minus the dangerous sun damage. Now, where would we be without fake tan; the caramel elixir that instantly adds tone and sexiness to any bare body!?

Here are the do’s and don’t’s when it comes to applying the good stuff.

DO: Add hydration to your body.

“Prep with Moisturiser! This makes your skin ready to accept the tan smoothly and closely to the skin, which results in the most natural look,” suggests Michael. Try St.Tropez Tan Enhancing Moisturiser, $19.95

DON’T: Overdo it.

“Don’t moisturise your entire body on the day of your tan.  This will make the tan weaker in colour. Only ”

DO: Focus on certain areas.

“Only moisturise dry areas, such as hands, elbows, knees, feet and ankles, where tan can build up and become patchy ankles.”

DON’T: Get too hands-on.

“Use hands for application. Hands can sometimes catch tan in their natural grooves, which can in turn cause streaks.”

DO: Start from the bottom, now you’re here.

“Always start from the feet and work upwards.  This prevents creasing from bending while applying tan.”

DON’T: Shimmy out the door straight away in a little black dress.

“Wear tight or restrictive clothing after application.  This can result in creasing while the tan is drying.”
