With just a few months until the ninth anniversary of Anna Nicole’s death, Larry has revealed how he keeps Dannielynn, nine, safe and preserves her mother’s memory.
Her favourite thing to do is to play on the computer and Larry, 42, knows it’s only a matter of time before she finds out more than she ever needed to about her infamous mum.
“We go back all the time [to the Bahamas] and we go to [Anna Nicole’s] grave,” said Larry.
“We visit and I tell Dannielynn stories about her mum. I don’t sugar coat it. I say there are some things that your mum did and you know I try to make her learn from it.”
After Anna Nicole gave birth to Dannielynn on September 7, 2006, the model’s son Daniel died of accidental drug overdose three days later while visiting in her hospital room. He was aged 20.
Tragically, just five months later, Anna Nicole died of a drug overdose and that lead to a custody battle between Larry and another man, Howard K. Stern, who also believed he was the father of Dannielynn.
“She’ll see things, when she grows up, that not necessarily are true. Was [Anna Nicole] wild? Yeah, sure. But [she was] a great lady and a great mum.”
Anna Nicole achieved notoriety after marrying eighty-nine-year-old oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall when she was just 26, the pair met in a strip club.
He died 13 months later and the model and his family were locked in a legal battle over his will.
Anna Nicole would go on to become a Playmate and a pop culture icon but struggled legally, financially and with drug dependency.
“There is YouTube these days and that stuff is out there. My daughter likes to Google already and I’m trying to keep her from it,” adds Larry.
As he reflects on the tumultuous time, Larry says it still does not feel real, even to him.
“A lot of that [life] seems like that’s a blur. If it weren’t for Dannielynn I would say, ”Did any of this really happen?” Life’s [was] so fast paced you know? Raising her on my own… it doesn’t feel near as crazy.”
