Recently, the news channels have been dominated by talks of climate change, political turmoil, and Greta Thunberg. Everything seems bleak and doomed, but there is hope yet.

On the horizon, we can look forward to an action-packed celebrity performance with notable hosts such as Hugh Jackman, Idris Elba, and Trevor Noah taking part in a global broadcast to support the movement Global Citizen which aims to make our world a better place. Also, supporting the cause from the music industry is Alicia Keys, Billie Eilish, Coldplay, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and many more.

Why July is a Goldmine for Creators

Just this week, Global Citizen teamed up with advisory firm Teneo to work on the year-long project, Global Goal Live: The Possible Dream which aims to prioritise long-term sustainability and end extreme poverty, tackle climate change, and reduce inequality by 2030.

We have ten years to endextreme poverty and tackle climate change. While we have seen significant progress, we will not be successful at our current pace.” said Global Citizen CEO, Hugh Evans

The program is currently being supported by all 193 member states of the United Nation, and with next year marking the ten-year countdown to achieve the global goals for 2030, the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres has called for action.

For this to be possible, there remains much to be done, with official stats showing that $350 billion would be needed a year for the poorest 59 countries in the world.

In order to secure the $350 billion in commitments that is needed this year, we are building a coalition the likes of which the world has never seen to mobilize and engage millions of global citizens, governments, industry and individuals to redouble their efforts to achieve the Global Goals.” said Teneo CEO, Declan Kelly

The broadcast will be accompanied by a Global Citizen Festival in Lagos, Nigeria; all of this with the goal of raising awareness and reaching out for support from the world’s largest companies and business leaders.

In addition to our role helping to lead the campaign, we will be working with Global Citizen, and the CEOs and companies who have already stepped up to the challenge, to bring others to the table to join us to help achieve our goal for this next critical year and beyond.” added Declan Kelly

Through the power of music and the expansive reach of technology, in addition to the influence of some of the biggest celebrities, the idea is to get everyone aware, and more importantly, involved on this mission to save the planet.
