Are you confused by all the conflicting information out there about what to eat for good health and vitality?

Do you get tired of hearing about the next miracle superfood or weight loss diet to answer all your health concerns?

If you are like the majority of people out there, including myself, then you would have answered yes to the above questions!

On a daily basis I hear my clients, family and friends say to me….“I would eat well but it’s just too hard and I don’t know where to start?”

How Wholefoods Can Heal

You see as a society we have over complicated what to eat for health and wellness and in order to maintain a healthy diet long term, we need to simplify things and get back to basics! Our bodies are marvellous, divine, highly intelligent machines that know exactly how to heal itself if we provide it with the right environment to do so. So, to help simplify things for you here are two words to remember when thinking of what to eat for good health…..“EAT WHOLEFOODS!”

What are wholefoods?

Wholefoods come straight from nature, as nature intended them to be. They are foods which are closest to their organic state, which have not been processed or modified in anyway. Vegetables, good fats, herbs, spices, seeds, animal proteins, and fruits are all wholefoods which have the ability to heal our bodies. Mother nature is wonderful at providing us with everything that we need to nourish and nurture our body and sustain a healthy balance. Every natural food has a miraculous healing power, loaded with vitamins, minerals and all the essential building blocks for life. Each wholefood has its own set of intelligent cells that communicate directly with our cells in a positive way influencing how they act.

Some key benefits of eating whole foods are;

  • Whole plant foods are loaded with phytonutrients which are powerful antioxidants that fight against disease.
  • Wholefoods help decrease your consumption of bad fats as they are loaded with good fats (omega-3 and monounsaturated). Good fats help brain function, blood sugar and reduce inflammation in the body which prevents chronic disease.
  • Wholefoods are loaded with fibre which keeps you full for longer and most importantly keeps your digestive system healthy.

Personally, I helped heal my body from chronic fatigue syndrome by simplifying my diet to eating wholefoods. As soon as I eliminated processed foods, gluten, dairy, refined sugars and additives from my diet, I noticed drastic changes in my overall health, moods, clarity of mind and energy and as a result I now thrive in life rather than just survive. The best part is….you can too!

How Wholefoods Can Heal

Here is an exercise to help you start…

At every meal you sit down to, have a look at your plate. Make sure everything on there is whole and as close to its natural state as possible. Try putting aside the processed, additive ridden food for just one week and observe how you feel after each meal. Do you feel fuller for longer? Do you have more energy? Are you happier? More motivated? By being conscious at each meal and bringing awareness to what you are eating, you can slowly start to bring about change by making small amendments moment by moment. Start to be conscious of your decisions, keep it simple and remember…….

“Eat wholefoods – wholefoods heal!”
